"Are You Lonesome Tonight?" was recorded at the same RCA Nashville session. Must've been quite a day.

I'm sure there must be some members who love history as much as I do, so I'll share some interesting facts I dug up relating to the session that produced "L2WB 0103":

Being the history nerd I am, I use an algorithm to calculate the day of the week given a specific date. I've always found learning more about the historical context of music allows me to gain a deeper appreciation for it. The more I learn, the more I appreciate. I think there are a lot of us here like that. Anyway, on with today's history lesson!

The session occurred on April 4, 1960 at RCA Nashville, Studio B...Bill Porter turf! Using the algorithm, I was able to determine 4/4/60 was a Monday.
The session produced the following nine tracks:

"The Girl Of My Best Friend"
    "Dirty, Dirty Feeling"
    "Thrill Of Your Love"
    "I Gotta Know"
    "Such A Night"
    "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
"The Girl Next Door Went A Walking"
    "I Will Be Home Again"
    "Reconsider Baby"

Anybody familiar with the tracklisting of "Elvis Is Back!" will notice all but two of these songs appeared on that LP. The two that did not, "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" and "I Gotta Know" were released on singles. Obviously, it was quite a busy and productive day for Elvis and the gang!

As it turns out, a number of other interesting events occurred on Monday, April 4, 1960:

That evening, the 32nd Academy Awards, hosted by Bob Hope, were held. Winners included:

    Best Picture: Ben-Hur
    Best Director: William Wyler, Ben-Hur
    Best Actor: Charlton Heston, Ben-Hur
Best Actress: Simone Signoret, Room At The Top
Best Supporting Actor: Hugh Griffith, Ben-Hur
Best Supporting Actress: Shelley Winters, The Diary Of Anne Frank

Ben-Hur won 11 Academy Awards that night!

The same day, Senegal won it's independence from France.

Also on that April Monday in 1960, the United States launched the world's first weather satellite, TIROS. Elsewhere, the U.S. conducted the first live launch of a Polaris missile. Later in 1960, the first Polaris submarine would be commissioned.

In Illinois, Chris Karamesines became the first driver to exceed 200 mph on a quarter-mile track. He hit 204.54 mph at the Alton Dragway.

The number one song on the Billboard Pop chart on April 4, 1960 was Percy Faith's "The Theme From A Summer Place". Three weeks later, Elvis Presley's "Stuck On You" would end Percy Faith's impressive nine-week run at the number one spot.

For our Canadian members, the number one song in Canada that day was "Beatnik Fly" by Johnny & The Hurricanes. Percy Faith was at number nine.

I'd say that was a pretty interesting day. History certainly doesn't occur in a vacuum. Should anyone like to add to the day's events, I'm all ears. If not, class dismissed. ;)

Steve, is this your subtle way of telling us that you are remastering the Elvis catalog for release on 180g vinyl?

Or am I reading too much into this?

    Steve,

Isn't this the master matrix # for "Such A Night"?

Perhaps, this is what Arin already said...
