Sept 20 1969 Where John Lennon quits The Beatles.

 

And again: George wasn't there.

 

I think this is my favorite late-period Beatles shot. I remember that it was a fairly popular wall hanging back in the day. Anyone know which photo session this came from?

 

April 9th, 1969. And that particular photo was digitally altered in 2010 when The Beatles music was put on iTunes for the first time. The original photo has George slightly over to his right, slightly away from the group. It's telling.

It's a badass photo though, pardon my language. George wearing the Jack Purcell sneakers and John wearing the French made Spring Court sneakers.

I think that's another reason why I like the (above) colour Tittenhurst picture - it's as if George is looking askance at the others whilst thinking, 'Yeah, just you watch what I'm going to release next, you b...'

There is another shot from this session that I love. The lads are facing the camera with Ringo in front. John has a big smile on his face. I used to have a poster of it. I can't find a image of it to post.

funny i was in a successful band with a long almost 20 year career with loads of studio and touring time. it is very strange when the change from a "gang" to four dudes who can't wait to not be around each other happens.sad but interesting the way things change like that.

It's amazing how band mates just can't seem to get along. I mean, it's a job. Put the egos aside, leave them at the door, 'Get Together', and get the job DONE.

As they say in the military: "Don't get pissed... re-enlist!"

 

Too much ego, and too many drugs, especially in John's case.

 

Or an analogy I like to use, akin to cats being herded together into a room, The Beatles by the time of that Aug. 22, 1969 photo shoot.

 

I think what made it difficult was the fact that they knew each other from young ages, spent an intense amount of time together, and they didn't take a break when they needed to. It was like a family where everyone grew up and was desperate to have their own lives.

 

I think they look great. Much better than earlier. Stylish. My favorite photos of them date from this photo shoot.

 

Yes, I know. The Beatles ended that day.
