Robert Altman's "Popeye". This isn't a great movie, but it has wonderful visuals. The opening sequence is almost epic.

I would imagine the 1992 novel was better.

Who the F**K is Arthur Fogel?

Great doc about the virtually unknown Canadian promoter who is at or near the top of the heap in his profession.

Marlowe - This is the one with James Garner playing the title character. He played it a lot like he would play Rockford just a few years later and I enjoyed it.

Firefly and then Serenity. Still as awesome the 1396th time as they were the first.

Edit out all the dialog and you have a fine soft porn film. :)

Watched the Godzilla 3D BD last night. I never thought I'd give much thought to 3d on a television but I love it on my Panasonic!

As to the movie. Was OK, but a bit too many silly exaggerations, like the tidal wave in Honolulu. And the silliness that eating an unexploded nuke feeds the critter a ton of radiation. But it's a monster movie and entertaining as hell, so you got to check the brain at the door!

I watched Godzilla (2014) last night. It's badly written. They kill off the wrong characters, IMO. It started out well but finished badly. The big, night time fight scene at the end is so dark and overly processed that it looks poorly, even on Blu-ray, or some TV's, including the 42 inch, Panasonic plasma I employed. After the movie was over, me and my guest, took the BD and watched the end scenes again on the Samsung 40" UHD set that I bought for my bedroom system this week. We both agreed that those dark scenes were way better. I may just get enthusiastic about UHD sets?

The night shots looked fine in the theater (I saw it twice, once in 2D, once in IMAX 3D).

Neighbors - I thought it was awful, the worst film I have watched this year.
Godzilla 2014- Well, it was better than Neighbors
Kansas City Confidential 1952 - I needed something to restore my faith in movies after the first two, so I grabbed this solid noir off the shelf.

My last four in the cinema, over the last ten days:

Magic in the Moonlight (minor Woody Allen, but enjoyable enough, and Emma Stone is always watchable)
A Most Wanted Man (very good, a decent swan song for PSH)
The Equalizer (a bit slow-moving and - at times - silly, but reasonably satisfactory)
A Walk Among the Tombstones (strangely inconsistent in tone, but not as bad as some reviews have suggested)
