I liked it with a guilty conscience. Not really a fan of super-hero movies or movies that put good stuntmen out of work with CGI but I try to be open minded for an old guy. I can't imagine Preston Sturges writing something like this. ;)

    Getting into the Halloween spirit.

Watched a couple of childhood favorites:
    • Hocus Pocus (1993)
    • Casper (1995)
    Up next:
    • The Addams Family (1991)
    • The Addams Family Values (1993)
    • Sleepy Hollow (1999)
    • Rose Red (2002)
With the exception of Sleepy Hollow, I HATE movies like Halloween, Friday 13th, IT, etc that are basically gore-fests (my brother adores them and is gearing up to have his own Halloween movie marathons soon lol). What can I say, I'm a chicken lol.

  8. Between interviews and housework I've been watching the British TV show "The Avengers" seasons 3-5. I also finished watching one of my fav TV movies "The Night Stalker". Watched the Blu-ray for "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars", "Space: 1999" season two, "Andrei Rublev", "The Naked Prey" and "Day of the Jackel".

  10. How about Scream Factory's new remastering found on Exorcist II: The Heretic's collector's edition? Watching it again reminded me why I loathe this sequel so much, as someone that dearly loves the original movie. Boorman reveals in the new audio commentary that he loathed William Peter Blatty's novel and found it "abhorrent." You don't need much beyond that to realize why this movie was a huge disappointment.

watched Cobra on dvd last night as the games were blowouts last night. Cobra looks decent on dvd but the audio I think needs upgrade. I know it's coming out on 4K UHD.

I watched X-Men on UHD-BD from the 3 film set last night. It looked good to me. It came with the same old 5.1 DTS -M audio but my processor turned it into 11 channel and gave it somethin' extra....in the sky.... I started X2 but got tired and didn't finish. I'm off to chapter 16 in a few minutes.

I recently aquired the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon on DVD, and I am currently reliving my youth. It has surprisingly held up better than I thought it would, except for maybe the advice segments at the end of each episode.

It's rather bewildering to me why Warner Bros. see fit to remaster and release both this utter crud and the recent Blu-ray debut of The Swarm, two of the most infamous turkeys/bombs of that entire decade if not living memory, but won't give something like, say, the two original V television mini-series' (both collectively are one of the most requested titles' in WB's extensive library, I've been reliably informed) equal treatment in newly remastered Blu-ray releases... the above horror (in every sense) movie has even received a brand new 2K scan from the original camera negatives, something the studio didn't even give the Superman movies for pity's sake, which were all scanned from mere IP's!!!

    Hooray for Hollywood indeed ...

I heard that. I am debating on whether or not to buy the original She-Ra DVDs. I don't remember the show at all.

  19. I'm fairly sure Scream Factory picked Exorcist II since they had already released a collector's edition for Exorcist III, and secured an interview with Linda Blair.

I finished off the X-Men set. I think that I got my $32 worth! They all looked good to me and the audio processed up to 11 channel was very nice....particularly on the two sequels. I also watched Zardoz on BD. It freaked my brother out..... ;) Psycho-billy, psychedelic Sci-fry, set at a topless joint....I'm surprised he didn't like it more on that account. Me, I just like Sean in that outfit!

Warner hasn’t rereleased Exorcist II; they’ve licensed it to a label that specialises in horror reissues. There’s a large cult audience for horror films of this vintage regardless of their quality. Although Exorcist II is a mess, it’s far from worthless - some of the cinematography is highly innovative, while Ennio Morricone’s score is outstanding, even by his standards.
