Nightcrawler--the new Jake Gyllenhaal film plays a nutty guy on the fringe of society that's trying to make ends meet and hooks up shooting footage for a TV station, if you enjoy edgy films, check it out.

Saw Guardians of the Galaxy last night it was pretty good, but I hope they don't try the same approach with Star Wars--a bit too jokey for my taste.

Rewind This!--a doc on the video cassette revolution and VCR history and how it changed the way we watch movies, how Hollywood adjusted to it, the formats, the Mom & Pop stories, being a teen in that evolution, the format war, and people who still collect the format-- a pretty fun video.

Expendables 3 - had to, we have the others. Great when the wife likes the 'guy' movies. Didn't mind it, as I knew what we were getting going in. Also, if you grew up with Stallone as I did, it's a nostalgia thing.

Just ordered "The Kids Are Alright"( The Who doc.) :D and "Monty Python and The Holy Grail". I hear the "Grail" is a nice transfer by Sony.

This Is Where I Leave You, starring Jason Bateman and Tina Fey. It is oversold as a comedy, the movie feels more like a sentimental family drama. Good performances from the leads, including a wacky turn by Jane Fonda.

Patiently waiting for a price drop on this one. See no need to spend over $15.00 anymore, since waiting usually comes through.

  18. I think that is wise. I mildly enjoyed the film but I would wait as well on a drop.

This bad boy has been so long-forgotten and neglected in the US, I actually had to import it from Germany:

    Revenge of the Ninja (1983).

Finally I can replace the US DVD which is only pan & scan and actually see what's happening, especially in the action scenes.

It's got its share of cheese and bad acting, but I can't think of a better ninja film in the 1980s.
