Which individual, George Martin as producer, or John and Paul as contributor to the other's melody or lyrics, do you think would have benefited the songs the most.

I think Paul's material was produced well enough by himself.
But so many of his songs just go astray until the Band On The Run album, and even some after.
I think Lennon's presence could have added a few lyrics or advise here and there to not make a lot of them sound so strange, or to help him complete the ideas into full tracks.
Although I think Paul certainty could have helped melodically on some of John's stuff, I think John could have really used George Martin as a producer to make his material more polished.
With the exception of the Plastic Ono Band album, were the production fits the theme, John really needed a better producer than Spector.

I’d say all of the above, plus George and Ringo.

Lennon working on RAM may have been awkward.

It depends really, in theory having Lennon/McCartney working as a team would've made the albums better but at the same time I think their egos outgrew their partnership. Actually now that I think about it I should have put George Martin for John Lennon, I think he needed a better producer.

Lol and Paul on Imagine but just in general for most songs that one might feel are unfinished, uneven or not produced well.
