Lennon in response to Todd Rundgren

Oh my god, YES! I've said this many times over the last few years...can you imagine if he were alive now and on Twitter and Facebook? It would be must-follow stuff, for sure.

John Lennon is further proof that sometimes it's the biggest DBs that make the best music.

 

Want to be fair imo how about the first 10 years from both Lennon 64 to 74 and Rundgren 68 to 78.
Tod can't hold a candle to John's best penned tunes.

 

I'm a big fan of John. But his uncensored whatever-is-on-his-mind-at-the-time comes off as so petty and jerky.

You know when you find out something really unpleasant about an artist you admire, but then wished you hadn't found out about it at all... yeah... that's what happened right about now with me and this story.

 

Thanks for sharing that. Wow! Todd did have some strong words on Lennon but that article was set up to be controversial. Still, maybe e Rundgren was looking for some attention himself.

 

Thanks. Well TR did ask for it... To me, John in his reply comes accross as quite civil, in his own way.

 

And he was always bad with names.

 

That goes without saying. No one can compete with John at his best. Paul was close.

 

I cant see any similarities with I Saw The Light and Theres A Place, for real

 

I can hear a little similarity, but maybe more between "I Saw the Light" and "You Won't See Me".

I think Todd (much like me), was more of a "Paul" fan.

 

This is kinda hilarious. Rundgren sounds like he just got back from a vision-quest (don't know if he was actually doing drugs yet) even though I agree with him (at least about Lennon), and Lennon sounds like an angry 11-year old in a YouTube comment section. Still not the dumbest thing he ever said back in the early 70s.

 

Oh well, as John once said, time wounds all heels.

 

Well, to start with, I did not know him personally. While it seems that he had some character flaws, I would hardly call him a "DB". It would seem that it was just part and parcel of a) growing up in post-war Liverpool, b) being idolized by millions during his very formative 20s, and c) being very, very gifted with words.
