Wasn't he diagnosed with smoking related emphysema not long ago? His condition is not good...

  5. He's been in a wheelchair and breathing from an oxygen tank for the past 2 years...and it IS smoking-related by his own admission...

I guess he had quit decades ago, but the damage was already done. I had a short several year stint with cigs as a kid but quit about age 20.

It's mindboggling anyone smokes these days, considering the initial costs and the long term issues.

My Mom quit smoking back in the late '60's, and my Dad in the early '70's. They are both in their '80's now about 40 years later and doing well.

Not quite a year ago, my friend and former co-worker, who smoked all his life, was diagnosed with three different cancers in different areas of his body, with no prior symptoms. He died about 9 months later in December at the age of 59.

please refrain from the redundant SMOKING IS EVIL rant...Leonard is still alive at 83 and he chose his life style. Stop using this as a podium for an agenda.

yes, smoking isn't the evil, it's the tobacco companies for selling an addictive and deadly product that is the evil part.

Please refrain from redundant rants about redundant rants. Stop using this as a podium for an agenda against redundant rants.

  13. I'll only use this post to state established facts: 1) smoking nicotine-based tobacco products is a proven toxic carcinogen firmly linked to respiratory illnesses such as the one Mr. Nimoy is currently suffering; 2) Mr. Nimoy HIMSELF says that his smoking is a direct causal factor of his illness...
I'll stop there and simply wish him as complete and speedy recovery from his latest medical episode as is humanly possible...

I tried cigarettes for one or two days back in HS.
Never saw the appeal & never tried it again.

Can we just keep this about Leonard Nimoy? Yes, everyone knows smoking can kill you, just like eating crappy food can kill you. Everyone knows this.

I hope Leonard Nimoy recovers quickly, whatever it is that sent him to the hospital.
