Very sad. Might have to watch the Trek trilogy this weekend to cheer myself up.

It's hard to believe that we now live in a world without Leonard Nimoy.

There are always certain celebrities that you wonder if it is even possible for them to realize how many people they affected in a positive way. He was one of them.

There are THREE new articles on him on New York Times today. Have they done this for any other individual when they passed away?

Bones, Scotty and now Spock. I'm getting older...

Sending out wishes of good health to Kirk, Sulu, Chekov, Uhura, and Rand.

And a big thank you to Leonard. R.I.P.

RIP Leonard/Spock - loved your work. I'm sorry it all caught up with you but also glad you have acknowledged the consequences of the choices made in life.

I turned 14 in the fall of 1966 and fell in love with Star Trek and it characters. Spock will not soon be forgotten or the man who brought him to life.

    Thank you.

Just watched a mini ST marathon. There is no way that anyone else in the world could play that character as well as Mr. Nimoy did. He will be greatly, greatly missed.

Boy, this makes me feel old. Wait, I am! Oh well......

I've watched the Star Trek movies more than the series over the years, I do like them both and I really enjoyed him being in the latest reboot.

Gonna plug in The Wrath Of Kahn tonight and toast to Leonard with a glass of wine.

I am more partial to the movies, as well. But the series really progresses their friendship in a realistic way. The movies cement their relationships, which makes it like watching a bunch of old friends just doing their job. Going boldly...you know the rest. What a void this will be in the world.

Star Trek has always been a major influence on my personality and world view. Nimoy's portrayal of Spock spoke to me from a very early age. Being a hippie kid, I always felt like an alien, and I always had more in common with Spock than with perfect, ladies man Kirk. Not unlike about a million other geeks growing up in the 70's, back before it was cool to be a geek. Brainy, restrained, only getting ladies when he was under the influence of spores or some other strange substance or force. He was as loyal and as dependable as a good dog, and his character got the Enterprise out of some of its most impossible situations. Nimoy made that character so real that people all over the internet are saying that Spock is dead, not Leonard Nimoy.

Nimoy out-acted everyone except when they got some stage actor or actress in a guest role, and even then it just made Nimoy up his ante. By the end of TOS, he was making Shatner look like a hack. Star Trek IV and VI are the closest to the original series that you'll find, and were as socially conscious and clever as the best TOS episodes. That was Nimoy's doing. He was a hero to me and a role model, and he will be missed by millions of people who feel the way I do.

    RIP Mr. Nimoy.

Marty Balin of all people shared this on Facebook yesterday:

"Good bye Spock. I will always remember during the Surrealistic Pillow Recording sessions in Hollywood how you would come in all the time, sit on the couch, and write your poetry as you listened to us record the album. This one is for you."
