yea. angel city were the angels. the name was changed because somebody in the office thought that a seventies hard rock band would be confused with the american girl group from the fifties lol ... i think they also tried the angels from angel city ... a disaster in selling a band is not being able to hold a name for long enough for anyone to remember. face to face, night attack, watch the red and two minute warning are some of my favourite albums
I live in the UK 'Calenture' by The Triffids is one of my favourite all-time albums. 'Bye-Bye Pride' by the Go-Betweens is one of my all-time favourite songs. But where's 'Redgum'?? 'The Diamantina Drover' is as good as anything by any Aussie Band/Artist: 'I Was Only 19', (produced by the much missed Trevor Lucas) and many others from Redgum's catalogue aren't too shabby either. Best Wishes, David
yea redgum did pretty well ... i couldn't remember everyone off the top of my head lol ... i was only nineteen was pretty huge over here, and although i never bought one of their albums that song is embedded in my psyche.
you sure can, great pop band. saw them live in the eighties ... i can't remember that singers name, but that dude had so much energy, he was bouncing around like a pinball
Fred Loneragan. The Machinations were brilliant. Should have been much bigger than they were. Big Music is a classic album.
Do you know... where you're going to, do you like the things that life is showing you... Sorry! I have a few INXS albums, best of Crowded House and an Icehouse single & album plus I know a few songs by Split Enz, John Farnham and The Easybeats but other than that it's a big fat no, I'm afraid... I did not know!
mate 90% of the tons of bands i listed are completely aussie and your nit picking just makes it seem like you're upset they aren't english. go and troll somewhere else
Check out Items in off the hip records store on eBay! for more current Aussie bands - think along the lines of The Hoodoo Gurus/Radio Birdman/Lime Spiders
And how about 'Missy Higgins'? Has had some airplay and attention over here in the UK. Wonderful song by a couple of Kiwis. Best Wishes, David
