I'm Talking. Their extended mixes were incredible, if only I could find them on cd/stream/download....

No! I sincerely disagree! They're practically giving music away now on CD.

what is not expansive these days in Australia?
i had the chance to visit your beautiful country in 2003 , back then everything was still fairly affordable for europeans .

So who & where are these places practically giving music away ?

I just checked the prices on 10 albums that I would buy from JB HiFi - total price $239.90. (all 1016 or 2017 releases)
    (This converts to 135.61 Sterling / 152.90 Euro / 189.18 US$).
@ $24.00 each for a product that they continually tell us nobody is being is not "giving them away".

This also disregards the many albums that I would like to buy that are not readily available in store from an Australian supplier. Prices more likely to be @ $30

ummmmmmm not sure where your shopping, but JBHI is incredibly cheap. current prices
    are between 19 - 21 Australian dollars or 15 - 17 US dollars for a new album.
do you realise these were 30 dollar albums during the 90's here when these new albums came out?
most older albums are about 10 bux each or 3 for 20 which is excellent value.

Yes but I'm looking for more current music that sits within my enjoyment range. There are not many that I'm after in the $19 - 21 range (3 out of the 10 I chose - the others were all $24.99)
Back in the 90's most of the chart CD's could be picked up for @ $24.oo from places like K Mart & Target. A lot of those $30.00 CD's are still $30.00

I have snapped up all of the $10 items that grabbed my attention & do so whenever they appear but that was mostly years ago. I'd certainly buy plenty of CD's at $10 a pop.

with the u.s. dollar sitting fairly high, in comparison to the oz, the prices aren't as bad.

the big problem is that kids are buying video games instead of cd's. the industry in a lot of ways is dying. record companies have resorted to repackaging classics in an attempt to get baby boomer bucks via nostalgia, and though some stuff is very worthy of re-release for format reasons, normally it is contained in a chronically over priced box with not too much music and a ton of fluff.

it seems everything is limited release to try and scare folks into buying it quickly. i can't even get the church psychedelic symphony dvd, and that's pretty recent.

haha! Yeah the drummer for Goanna from 77-79 is a mate of mine, Rod Hoe. I did my own solo album
with him playing drums. Great and knowledgeable musician right there.

The band owns their back catalogue now. Expect a Bear Witness Super Deluxe Edition with a disc of remixes and another disc of unreleased stuff from the abandoned second album some time this year.
