No & we haven't mentioned Bob Daisley even though he played in a number of Australian bands before he went overseas.
Never been to AUS and don't know many of the artists in the second list, but I did have a good mate in the early '00s in Toronto who was from Perth (he played in a band called Skinny Bo Gil with Nathan King before Nathan joined Level 42) who introduced me to "Reckless" by James Reyne - it was only years later when checking out Wiki that I found out he originally sang the song much earlier in Australian Crawl. Bloody ripper tune. I think Reyne's solo version is the better version of the two:
Unfortunately, there is practically no reissue market in Australia for 60s music. There was the Festival Files series from a number of years ago, first on vinyl and then CD. But many artists have never been given CD compilation treatment. New Zealand has actually done a much better job releasing 60s pop, with CDs by the likes of The Chicks, Sandy Edmonds, Ray Columbus and the Invaders, Craig Scott, etc.

I picked this up and have been playing it pretty regularly for the past couple of weeks. It’s as good as I remember it being and a really nice package. Now if only Do Re Mi and Eurogliders’ back catalogue could be given the same treatment!
How do I miss all this? Honestly, I feel like I live with my head in the sand. Will check it out. Thanks a lot for the tip.
Sony's RSD Aussie vinyl reissues John Farnham ~ Whispering Jack (white vinyl) The Black Sorrows ~ Harley and Rose The Black Sorrows ~ Hold on to Me Brian Cadd ~ Brian Cadd Dragon ~ Sunshine Eurogliders ~ This Island Eurogliders ~ Absolutely Mi Sex ~ Space Race Jebediah ~ Slightly Odway Daddy Cool ~ Sex, Dope Rock 'n' Roll: Teenage Heaven
I posted this earlier today in the big Americana thread, Sydney band Not Good With Horses debut album Faultlines just released ...
I'd get whispering jack, but i don't know about white vinyl. always dubious about coloured vinyl. i've got the cd anyway. the two black sorrows would be good, always liked joe camilleri. jebediah is cool, i'm not sure that it's aged well. i listened to the cd the other day. still good fun.
I was in Australia in January of 1988 with some school friends and a buddy of mine went out and saw Jump Back Jack and picked up their album as well. What a great bassist Jackie Orszaczky was and what a fun group! Never heard anything outside of Oz from them but I was poking around just now and found video from a gig of their's in 1987! Talk about unexpected, this tops my list! There are other videos of the band on Youtube from TV appearances in Australia, but a random gig from the "Alnation Club"? Here's the first video in the list, it's a fun gig.
I thought I'd post this for those who don't understand what goes on in Australia. A true living Australian legend.
Both the Black Sorrows were originally double albums. I wonder if Sony will stay true to the concept.
Honestly, Id prefer decent CD masterings for these. Not instead of, but as well as I dont have a turntable anymore and Id like to get the Eurogliders particularly.
