And if you want to listen to just one Australian Crawl album, make it Sirocco. Should have been as big as Men At Works' debut album in my opinion.
The Town Criers - early 60s pop band with my favorite cover version of "Everlasting Love." Going to modern........... Courtney Barnett - not mentioned yet, but known in the US is a current favorite. Her partner - Jen Cloher - is great too. She finally played the US last year opening for Courtney Barnett/Kurt Vile........and then headliner this year.
The Crystal Set. It wasn't all Steve Kilbey, you know. His brother played a blinder with this outfit.
I'm jealous you have so much great music to explore Purple Jim, if you want to. I don't claim to like everything on the list you've never heard of, but oh man, so much great stuff there if you want it. I feel fortunate as an Aussie to have seen much of it in pubs back in the day. Enjoy!
Augie March have a really nice new album out called Bootikins. I have the vinyl for it and their great and highly recommended debut, Sunset Studies (issued on vinyl for the first time for RSD 2016) in transit from Rockaway Records in Brisbane...
Back in the '80s my boss's daughter went to Australia from the UK and formed a band called Electric Pandas. Believe they had a little bit of success after which she went into broadcasting?
Bought an EP last week by a band called The Stroppies called It's A Hit! Really good stuff. It's on YouTube. Check it!
