My 10 Favorite Artists Of Those That Have Garnered At Least 20 Combined Gold and Platinum Albums Over The Course Of Their Career (RIAA Certified)...

    1. Kiss (24)
    2. Elvis Presley (65)
    3. Prince (22)
    4. The Rolling Stones (41)
    5. Rod Stewart (25)
    6. Frank Sinatra (33)
    7. Elton John (35)
    8. Kenny Rogers (27)
    9. Aerosmith (23)
    10. The Beach Boys (20)

Totals may not reflect precise figures, since a few of these artists (Kiss, I know for one) have often never applied for re-certification, thus the "true totals" for those artists are surely greater than what's cited.

Ten Artist Sets Celebrated On Bubble Gum Cards (Or Who Might Have Been Celebrated On Bubble Gum Cards):

I've always said, you know you've made it if you find yourself in wax packs on a store shelf... :)

Elvis Presley (1956 Topps, Yellow Wrapper)
I have yet to acquire one of these 1956 packs for my collection, but I do own a display box that housed them along with several of the cards themselves. These are now quite scarce to find anymore (the sealed packs that is).

Elvis Presley (1978 Donruss, Red Wrapper)
These packs remain very plentiful, were pressed in numerous quantities, and make a nice bookend to the early 1956 wax packs.

The Beatles (1964 Topps, Yellow Wrapper)
Several Beatles gum cards were released at the height of Beatlemania. This yellow wrapper set has an ad for Bazooka gum on the wrapper's flap and features cartoon renditions of the Fab Four's faces on the front.

The Beatles Movie (A Hard Day's Night) 1964 Topps, Red and Yellow Wrapper
This is my favorite Beatles pack and features cards from the film "A Hard Day's Night".

The Monkees (1967 Donruss, Black Wrapper)
The Monkees followed the Fab Four's suit, as did most everyone, in releasing several sets of gum pack cards in 1967. The only pack I currently own is an example of this 1967 Donruss set. It reads "More Of The Monkees" on the front.

    Kiss (1978 Donruss, Blue Wrapper)
My all-time favorite gum pack by any artist (and my favorite Kiss collectible of all-time), is this first series of gum cards released by Donruss in 1978. The pack reflects everything great and nostalgic about the band from a commercial zenith. The powder blue background, the red-yellow Kiss logo and the black cartoon-renditions of the four faces from the "Hotter Than Hell" album cover. I always thought the choice of using the faces from that album was a curious one, but it works! I love these packs so much that I have two original store boxes filled with 36 packs on display in my Kiss room. These were pressed in very healthy quantities so they are not one of the more rare Kiss items. Regardless, they remain the most "definitive" Kiss collectible ever released in my humble opinion. This set was quickly followed by a slightly more scarce "2nd Series" with a red wax wrapper and with an ad on the flap for Kiss's 1978 October TV movie - Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park. Coinciding with the release of the four solo albums and a wealth of other fun collectibles, a Kiss fan was on cloud nine at this point in time! I know I was.

Andy Gibb (1978 Stigwood Corp. Blue Wrapper)
These neat little gum packs capitalized on Andy Gibb's rising chart success and fame as a heartthrob. These were "poster cards" complete with bubble gum. I have a couple sealed packs of these. They are collectible but not particularly rare. Nor in fashion nowadays! Which is actually all the more reason to appreciate them! :)

    Michael Jackson (1984 Topps)
These packs had a few different variations and images of Michael on the front. I have just two sealed packs. Stickers were included in addition to the gum and cards.

    Ricky Nelson (1961 Topps)
This is pure fantasy on my part, but I could have envisioned a set of bubble gum cards being made for Ricky (one of my all-time favorite artists). Perhaps after the success of his double-sided smash "Travelin Man / Hello Mary Lou", a set might have been made featuring cards from his prior Ozzie & Harriet episodes, etc. I always thought of Ricky as being the next in line in wake of Elvis's culture-shattering teen idol success, so I would have loved seeing packs for him as well.

    Elton John (1973)
This is one artist for whom mass gum card packs were not made but which I could have easily envisioned. Perhaps Topps or Donruss could have issued bubble gum packs on the heels of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", showcasing cards and wrappers with many of Elton's flamboyant stage costumes etc.

Whichever artist (or pack of collectible cards) you enjoy, I offer best wishes and happy collecting! Just don't eat the gum... :)

    Fascinating list!

As a baseball card-collecting tween in the mid-80's, I of course knew about Fleer and Donruss starting baseball cards in 1981. I had no idea Donruss was in the card business before that.
