I was looking on spoti for a particular recording of Couperin’s 'Les Nations' by Antiqua Koln. They didn’t have it but came across this 2012 recording by Music Ad Rhenum and most lovely it is too … oozing in Baroque finery, with a wonderful energy and zest for the music. Heavenly, if only I had a Baroque palace to enjoy it in …

I watched the last ever episode of Poirot the other week! David Suchet is so wonderful in these films but I was so surprised and almost upset by the ending to the story. I won't spoil it in case there are any of you yet to enjoy! :shh:

I just opened this LP which had sat sealed for circa 40 years until I found it this morning in an antique store. Barenboim plays Beethoven 3rd Concerto under Klemperer, 1970s German pressing on the gold label

At least DuPont is still doing reasonably well while Eastman Kodak has almost disappeared. The irony is, Kodak actually invented the first digital camera. IIRC, Bill Gates bought the entire historical photo archives once owned by Kodak ...

I was recently in Berwick Street in London, a wonderful place for record shops, and was lucky enough to pick up, unplayed I'd say and a paltry £22, the Prague Quartet's vinyl box set of "Dvorak; The Complete Strings Quartets" on Decca. Sumptuous is how I would describe it. No12 The American is on the TT now.

For the last twelve months or so I've been exploring Bach's Goldberg's and I have yet to find a bad reading although Gould's sing along is annoying but my favourite is Zhu Xiao-Mei's 2016 release. I would have to admit, however. this probably doesn't appeal to the purists.

Just received this. Unfortunately, I already have half of the works on vinyl, but it was worth it just for the half that I didn't have. The piano trios with Pires, Dumay, and Wang are my favourite versions of these works.

I listened to a little of that recording a few weeks back when doing a Goldberg survey and thought it quite promising, so will return to it. It sounded nicely idiosyncratic to me, without being over indulgent. It's also available on vinyl which is a big plus for me ..

I love it. I have basically give up on vinyl for classical. I'm trying to build a comprehensive library and only CD makes that viable. However I have got my sights set on a chord qutest which will bring me to hifi streaming.
