With a wife in the room & a niece in the next room, that's usually not an option. I can always put on the phones...
Do the phones have active noise cancellation? They should be at least be closed back phones to be effective?
With La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy. The Requiem (which actually doesn't make my list of favorite Mozart) is OK, but the Charpentier is what I really enjoyed. From 1979 (Te Deum) & 1986 (Requiem). CD from 1990.
I still have a good number of Gavrilov's recordings made before he fell off the cliff and those recordings are sublime IMHO ...
Sennheiser HD600 AKG K-701 Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 - with active noise cancellation Sennheiser wireless AKG and Sennheiser headphones for portable music device 2 pairs of Philips closed back headphones Original AKG 240 I think these are all the headphones I have, though I really have not used any of them for the past few years since I took early retirement.
You don't need a master class just an open mind. Use your ears nobody else's. Classical music is a phenomenally large field. In my case I picked a composer or genre I liked and tended to explore that before moving on. You will never, ever know it all but it's fun trying.
Baseball is a mindboggling mystery to most of us Brits. Probably the same as Cricket is to you Americans
Back then there was a draft lottery. From the numbers 1-365 my birthday was matched with number 19, and they were calling up the numbers sequentially (so, for example, if your birthday was matched with the number 1 you didn't stand a chance and if it was matched with the number 365 you were off the hook). Thought I was headed straight to Vietnam but I got lucky and it turned out that infantry training was just a prelude to missile school. I ended up on a mountain top in Germany.
Now streaming on Spotify, "Josquin des Prez - Missa Pange Lingua" performed by Kammerchor Josquin des Prez directed by Ludwig Bohme on Carus.
I understand baseball much more than cricket to be honest although I do believe this county plays in the Minor league and certainly up the road theirs a well known team in the North Staffordshire league where one can sit out in tree covered park and pavilion and watch them play. It's sure hot already today having been out for a stroll.
Used to watch MLB games when they were still on free TV here (mostly in the middle of our night), but that's no longer the case. Also, the doping cases put me off.
Now listening to CD 2 from "Beethoven - The Piano Sonatas" performed by Vladimir Ashkenazy on London. Sonatas 7-10.
I am a big fan of Ludwig's 7th sonata. Less well known but i think it is epic My fave version is Perahia (no surprises there then ).
