I think I have a pretty good nose for BS. It seems a lot of people either do not or actually find the fragrance delightful.

Yes it is but my wish list is getting longer and longer and will probably never get shorter. My wife put the brakes on any more big purchases. Not that money is the problem but it is the space. I finally agreed with her when I realized I have not listened to about half of my collection in about a year or so. :shake:

I don't have the Szell box yet. I am only listening through my Claudio Arrau Complete Philips Recordings box now. I have space problem just like you. :sigh:

Many of my CDs are in banker boxes. I fill my 1,000 rack and my 500 rack and after that, they stay in the box. All alphabetical though so easy to find.

My 1600-CD spinning tower is not quite full yet though some of the CD's can be filed better. Unfortunately, I do have a bunch of CD's that are now on the floor in the carpeted music room since I do not quite have the shelf space for them ...

I need to take a count one of these days. I guess I have around 2,500 classical CDs. o_O

I am closing in on 7,500 classical CD's but they are spread across 4 rooms. At least all my LP's are in the music room with the bulk of my CD's ... :wtf:

Wow. That is an amazing amount. I feel small compared to that. Like I said, I need to do a count. Maybe I might get over 1/2 of what you own. :o

Off the top of your head.....what composer is at the top as far a CDs owned? For me it is Beethoven. After that, I can't even guess.

2-LP set, issued 8/69. I only listened to the first two movements of the 5th, as I am burnt out on that Tchaikovsky Symphony. The 7th I enjoyed. Recorded 5/31-6/5, 1968, Kingsway Hall, London. Producer: Ray Minshull. Engineer: James Lock.

Recordings made by RAI, the Italian Public Radio/TV network at their auditorium in Turin, 4/28/61. Side 2 is the 'Totentanz', which to my mind doesn't make as good a use of the "Dies irae" as does Rachmaninov. Mono issue, 1981.

I sort of register all the CD's I own on my computer over the years so I know what I have reasonably well. Unfortunately, I will never get to my LP's since I bought them before the personal computer age ...
