Keep going back to these, despite the cover.

Richard Wagner : Sir Georg Solti*, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra* - Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg

Another Goodwill find, this one was $1.49 after discount (five LP set) --- btw, all the albums I have shared in the last couple days are Goodwill finds in the $1 range. I have built quite the classical collection thanks to Goodwill... and the ones I kept are all in near mint condition. Of course there are duds, but I don't buy those!

I have found some VERY cool ones, I will share moving forward.

Just returned from my early afternoon 2 hour, 9 mile walk and listened to the following CD's ..

The AAM definitely put in a more polished performance, both its harpsichords and strings playing were more virtuosic than those of the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart.

The third CD with Leonhardt and Ameling has been my long-term favorite. Compared with his later harpsichord recordings, Leonhardt's playing in this 1960's recording was lively with Ameling at her best ...

The audio presentation of the gigantic and complex finale of the Akt ll is incredible. Just magic.
    Play LOUD.

Four harpsichords playing at once, this is my personal hell

Among the few JS Bach pieces I never play.

I did and you're right - I did a search earlier (all Amazons, eBay, Discogs, Google, you name it) and there are literally none available.

The Lucchesini Beethoven Piano Sonatas set we were referring to isn't exactly a historical recording like the ones released in the Naxos Historical series, the cycle was recorded between 1999 and 2001.

For those who love beautiful soprano singing, here is what I listened to over my walk earlier today. Beautiful singing by the great Dutch soprano Elly Ameling at her best with Gustav Leonhardt on the chamber organ ...
