Ahh! A Hammer film expert I stand corrected. Bray. it is Though I read that, sometimes, Hammer rented old stately homes in England for the shooting sessions ! When it came to vampires though, I much preferred this one to Christopher Lee..... The lovely Madeline Smith
Stravinsky: Apollon Musagete. Mravinsky, Leningrad Phil. Melodiya pink label Live recording also with Mozart Symphony 39. Very good live sonics..
Yes, you are right coopmv. My memory lets me down ! In 'The Vampire Lovers', Madeline was a potential victim of the female vampire played by Ingrid Pitt (also a star of my favourite action movie 'Where Eagles Dare' by the way). Luckily she was saved by some handsome young guy Here's Ingrid having lunch : There. Classical music and female vampires. What more do you need in life...……………….
Where Eagles Dare was one of my favorite movies when I was a young teen and I have the DVD ... I remember Ingrid Pitt from the movie.
I need to break this out again. Years ago, at about 3 AM, "Ionisation" made perfect sense to me. I've been trying to recapture that moment since.
The Boulez/Varese disc on Sony is another good one to have. Ameriques is totally different. It's a lot more violent.
Recorded 9/67. Engineer: P. Curiel. Mastering: Claude Rie. The Shrine is the largest Catholic church in North America. My wife had occasion to hear the organ(s) while getting her MLS at the adjacent Catholic University of America.
Produced by John Boyden Associates. Engineer: Tony Faulkner. This is very well recorded & the mastering engineer did a great job getting nearly 30 minutes on each side.
Listening to "Dowland - Fancyes, Dreams and Spirits: Lute Music 1" performed by Nigel North on Naxos.
My favourite version of the Goldbergs. Absolutely beautifully played. But, as some may know, I'm a hopeless Perahia fan-boy
Listening to "Mozart - Sinfonia Concertante/Concertone" performed by Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra led by Zubin Mehta on DG.
I have the following box, which includes this recording. It is a good performance though not necessary my go-to recording ...
Recorded 1/1-3/59, Kingsway Hall, London. In the early 50s Karajan recorded the same program with the same orchestra at the same location for the same label in mono. Of course, this 1959 recording was also issued in mono. Released in the U.K. as Columbia SAX 2306 (1960). Pressed by Capitol in Scranton, PA.
