Sony claims this LP derives from the original analog backup tapes. I can't find conclusive proof that those tapes fed the cutting head, but I'll take it on faith that they did. Regardless, it's sounds much warmer than the CD.

Don't take my word for it as I'm such a novice with classical music but I like it a lot.

It was sourced from the 1981 analogue job tapes; however, not directly to the cutting head.

Those '81 analogue tapes had never been edited and nobody in this day & age was going to physically cut and splice them. So the analogue job reels were transferred to DSD where final editing was performed in the digital domain to match instructions Gould left on a marked score.

It was one of those pieces that people who don't particularly like music always like. I remember my mother, who has no interest in music other than something to dance to, liking it.

I have to say Deepfloyd11 that with 90% of your musical choices I am in complete agreement. You are very fortunate to have access to such a marvellous used record market.

In Stresa, Lake Maggiore at the end of their classical music festival. Unfortunately by the time we arrived they were all sold out. The Italians obviously have excellent taste. However we did visit Isola Bella to see the fabulous tiered gardens, totally amazing, and in the small palace was the most beautiful harpsichord I have ever seen.
