More Sine Qua Non LP box ... I cannot believe Eschenbach, Brendel and Badura-Skoda actually has some recordings with this cheap label. @bluemooze, did you buy any of these Sine Qua Non LP boxes back in the day around the mid 70's? $3.99 - $4.99 for a 3-LP box
Tchaikovsky, P.I. Symphonies 1 & 2 Lso cond Gergiev from 2012 Lso Live 007 10 2x stereo/multichannel sacd Where I appear to have lost my main copy of his Piano Concerto leaving only the Richer/Karajan in the DG Tchaikovsky box so I'll need to get a replacement at some point possibly the RPO/O'Hora which the original was but the sacd version which doesn't mix non tchaikovsky works on the same disc. Anyway enough of my awful short-term memory and on to these early symphonic works where I think Gergiev manages to reimagine them well.
Heh, I don't blame you. I have two vinyl sets of that music but not the Fournier/Archiv. It's some of my favorite music of any genre.
I used to sing Orlando Gibbons quite regularly in my youth but never realised he produced this instrumental music. Am streaming now, it is quite wonderful … many thanks.
I was nowhere near alive when “Rumours” came out, so was only exposed to it some 30 years later. I can still stand to listen to it. It’s pretty good. However there are other more recent albums where I feel the same way.
Just a photo op for the CD cover. I doubt the actual recording session happened in the snow ... Without googling, I know nothing about Christian Lindberg.
It would be a pity if a record company has to photo-shop what is supposed to be an authentic CD cover photo ...
(LP Philips German Press 9500 066) 1975 .... recorded May 1973 in Germany .... sublime Brahms interpretations ....
All VG+/NM originals but I didn't start collecting Mayall until about 10 years ago. These cost me nothing because I used to buy/pick/flip huge LP lots on Craigslist. Last few days of spins Mozart Concertos, Beethoven Quartets, Haydn Symphonies, Albinoni Concertos & Trios, Barsanti Concerto Gossi, Bassani Symphonies Had time to sell $530 of records yesterday, watch my Alice In Chains DVD with the Mrs. & shop like a fool on Amazon last night. The Beatles: The Original Studio Recordings (CD), a buncha Mayall & STP ~ Core on the way. The Bassani Symphonies are done. Time to wake the FU. AIC ~ Dirt now playing
...And he's apparently in your neck of the woods (London)! I'm pretty sure that's the Albert statue in the background. I visited that location in the late '80s and was appalled at the poor condition (apparent lack of maintenance) of such an important and prominent statue. Granted, that was thirty years ago, so hopefully the city (or the Royals) have attended to it in the meantime.
