Looooove Alan Parsons. Timeless genius. My husband has multiple copies of their albums..UK, Japanese, German, Canadian...blalabla pressings. You can see them from a far by the spines. Not only the music is awesome, but the recording quality is outstanding as well. Wish more rock bands had engineers that good.

We went to the movies and saw a really remarkable show. 'The Shape of Water' by Guillermo del Toro. This movie deeply moved us, it's beautifully crafted with a deep sense of empathy towards 'different' people and different loves - set in an era where tolerance was just a word. Visually stunning, great acting and flowing just like the title...thrilling but delicate at the same time.

On the TT.....feeling very romantic right now.

Knowing how much Emma Kirkby is admired here I listened to this chestnut tonight. She had a beautiful voice though this is not really my favorite album.

(LP Supraphon Stereo GS ST 50521) 1984 .... recorded January 1963 @ Pražsky Dum Umělců Prague Czechoslowakia (back then) .... Karel Ancerl`s take on this Smetana Tone Poem remains an unrivaled benchmark .... beautiful gatefold cover stereo vinyl reissue with dead silent pressing makes this the desirable edition (even compared with the original mono Supraphon issue) .... for CD buffs the japanese Supraphon Denon CACQ-84080 edition from 2006 defines the way to go ....

(CD RCA Red Seal German Press RD 60154) 1990 .... recorded May 1989 @ Studio Christuskirch Berlin .... splendid Martinu perfomances by German born conductor Claus Peter Flor and the Berliner Sinfonie Orchester .... for collectors with only the slightest interest in the euvre of Martinu this (andFlor`s take on Symphonies 5 + 6 released as RCA RD 87805 ) comes highly recommended ....

I still have Panasonic one what when you switched out all the DSP processing does sound pretty good but lugging discs is bulky in public spaces which until fairly recently was why I stuck with MiniDisc: Atrac 4.5 compression be damned, that sound pretty darn good and was smaller until I got the Fiio and went Flac even HD flac.

I have the early '70s reissue of that same recording in this Crossroads 2-LP box set. Nowhere near as nice as yours, but the music comes through. In fact, I'm putting it on the TT now.

CD from the second Living Presence box. I'm not the biggest wind ensemble guy, but every now and then I'll listen.

(CD Valois Auvidis V-4714) 1994 .... recorded July 1992 @ Lausanne Switzerland .... further proof of Nikita Magaloff`s mastery (if needed at all) via these stellar Scriabin Etudes interpretations ..... another big liabilty of nowadays owner Naive Astree regarding quality reissues of Magaloff`s early 1990`s euvre recorded for Valois and Disques Montaigne ....

IMHO, HH needs to re-record these works. The LACO is not such a great ensemble IMO and the tempos in the recording were too fast ...

I must admit I have not given Magaloff's Chopin box a serious listen and do not know which other composer's work he was known for ...
