I listen to my Sony Discman only when power goes out for a few hours, perhaps once a year if that ...
Currently listening to some Sibelius on Angel Records. Perfect on a mild winter's day in NY with an IPA to boot. Very nice recording-warm and it's Karajan. Enough said!
Now streaming on Google Play: The Franck Violin Sonata in A Major, from this album. ETA: This music is ridiculously gorgeous.
Listened to CD1 from the following twofer from my Avison collection at the just completed 64-min "power" walk. My Garmin fitness track is great ...
Yes, I do. I am glad I found many recordings. Someday I will count them. I am also slowly adding my collection on my Discogs profile, it keeps things practical as a data base (even though some of my LPs are not even in their data base yet).
I hate the press quality of these CBS recordings so much that I could never bring myself to buy them ...
There's nothing wrong with my LPs. They sound fine to me. Not as perfect as the Dutch, UK or German pressings - but perfectly OK to spin -since they are in excellent condition. The CBS Masterworks have really good sound quality in my opinion. For me it's not just about sound but about the music and interpretation as well.
Actually, I have never counted how many CBS and RCA LP's I have. To be sure, there are very few of them and many were cutouts, i.e. priced at $2.99 or $3.99 back in the day when the full price DG, Philips and London would be priced at $6.49 to $6.99 while the EMI would be priced even higher. I did not give these American record labels many chances but then their artists were not the best either ...
Google Play has this version, which includes Liszt instead of Rach. I'll bet it was common to repackage/reissue performances then, when you could only fit so much onto a side.
Google should provide hi-res streaming for a millennial artist like HH? BTW, is HH a millennial? IIRC, the mile high city does not even have a symphony orchestra?
I have quite a few LP's whose images do not even exist on Discogs but I did not bother to upload them since I am not even a customer and doubt I will be one anytime soon ...
