Yeah, Pollini is pretty amazing. I really like his playing and was fortunate to see him in concert. Very talented, very classy....

Not sure how many SACD's were made for Pollini's DG recordings but this Chopin certainly has great sound and excellent performance ...

I should get the Brahms Piano Concertos he recorded with Bohm that are still available as a CD twofer ...

I have this one and that is all. However, it is one of my favorite solo piano recordings.

This one got surprisingly rare. Who knows if a reissue is coming.

Which twofer? Pollini only recorded Brahms' first Piano Concerto with Böhm (VPO), not the second. He also recorded the first once with Abbado (BPO) and Thielemann (Dresden), and the second twice with Abbado (BPO and VPO) and once with Thielemann (Dresden).

I think this is the disc @coopmv is referring to.
You are correct though....Abbado with the Second.

Thanks RRB for the correction. I was indeed referring to this twofer ...

Yep, Böhm died before they could record the second - same with their Beethoven Piano Concertos cycle, 1 and 2 were recorded with Eugen Jochum instead.

Spinning this SACD. I am not a huge fan of the pianist but she nails this one. I wish someone would orchestrate some of these works especially the Dix pieces Pittoresques.

I'd buy it if it included Boulez's 2nd Sonata. I guess it is too repellent to the average audiophile or something! ;)

I guess it could not fit on the SACD. The original DG disc has it as you have alluded to.

The original also has Webern's Variations, so there's no reason not to release it with all of those pieces: they would easily fit.
