I'm not much of a C&W fan but I know what I like. I like Waylon and especially this particular gig.

Waylon's autobiography, read by hisownself is a helluva story. 3 parts almost 3 hours.

Hank Jr's Stormy fits my style & his Millennium version of Country Boy Will Survive on the Bochephus box set is perfect.

The Chesky CD editions were taken from the original master tapes using a customized Ampex tube tape recorder.

True. I have that CD as well. BTW, for some reason, Toccata and Fugue in D minor is also included on this CD, I believe because they thought they could improve upon the transfer on the older Originals CD. They did, in my opinion. It sounds clearer on this.

I know Angela Hewitt doesn't have a lot of fans on this forum, but I just love this recording.

Good idea to play it as dinner music - you'll be able to filter it out with the conversation!

Thanks for asking! Actually yes, he decided to go with the Acoustic Solid 113 turntable, the Jelco 850 Tonearm and the Nagaoka MP500 cartridge.
Something like this (different cartridge than the image).

And it has the sound board like this image (but I this is a different tonearm, possibly an SME? )

Decided not to get the Pollini. His version of Debussy's Préludes, Livre II lacks humor, it doesn't "sparkle". Someone described it as a "pokerface performance", and that's exactly what it is. I prefer the Daudet, but that one's currently pretty expensive. Back to Krystian Zimerman or Pierre-Laurent Aimard :)
