I really must not have gotten that far in to the discs yet because I've yet to even notice the audience is there (I didn't even get a chance to finish off the first disc yesterday).
Perhaps, I have an early Scofield cd or two, not sure of the personnel. Although, it could be that I just read the name off of the sticker on the front of the album image I just posted and projected...
The crowd is down in the mix, but at some points you'll hear glasses clinking and even some conversations. It goes to show, this was a working band.
@Lonson answered this first and I'll just chime in and say I play these on my standard player. I don't have a blu-ray so not an option for me. As I don't have an SACD player, these XRCDs are a great alternative. Not trying to sell these to anyone, but I also like the care in packaging of these. You can tell they take these seriously and invest in the product, which I think the music and heritage deserves.
Well, if I fail - as you note - at least the music is good! No one loses out on trying that's for sure.

Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about ordering Lee Morgan's "Tom Cat" on CD, but notice that Amazon's offering is a CD-R, so maybe this would be a good one to order on XRCD instead.
Highly recommended by me, especially when the alternative is a CD-R which to me is a travesty. I started my recent binge with Tom Cat as a matter of fact.

Budget reissue from 2014 featuring 2001 DSD remastering. Sounds excellent. And the music is music I've enjoyed for probably forty years!
Hello. I'm planning to spontaneously purchase this book soon: Berendt and Huesmann, The Jazz Book: From Ragtime to the 21st Century. Any thoughts about it? I would be grateful. Does anybody in here own it, by any chance? I already have "the Shipton" and "the Oxford Companion." Do I really need this one as well? (Deep inside, I'm guessing that I don't need it at all and that it's just book gluttony. And it's a sin! )
Is that what it means when the CD features the DSD logo too? When I was listening to the Blu-Spec cd of Hancock's Sunlight the other day, I noticed it had both the DSD logo and Blu-Spec logo on the back cover, and was somewhat confused by the presence of the DSD logo on a regular CD.
