Sort of chamber jazz with an edge. Pettersen uses her voice as an instrument to good effect. I played the CD layer.

Going through a stack of CDs sitting next to my desk on the filing cabinet, I discovered one more unopened item from my last cdjapan order to crack the seal on:

Miles Davis - Vol. 2 (100th Anniversary of Jazz series, SHM-CD)

I like those Miles' Blue Note dates, nice playing on them and I haven't listened to them very much at this point.

Time for something a little different:

Ted Sirota's Rebel Souls Vs. The Forces of Evil

Last time I had this cd lying around my wife asked "How come Miles Davis is sitting on the floor?"

A while back there was discussion of vocalists singing Monk tunes. Here is one I found in a thrift shop today in Boston

Art Pepper with Pete Jolly - West Coast Sessions!

Another good Art Pepper session recently released. I guess they are all good as I haven't heard any bad ones.

Right before the solo on "Well You Needn't," from Monk's Music.

    Time to listen Thanks.

I bought a beautiful near mint original yellow label pressing of this today for less than a common reissue on either CD or audiophile vinyl.

Things that are "of their time" are nice to see (and hear and touch)

I picked up shades of Redd a few months ago and loved it. His songs on that album are slightly quirky but not too so...
