Has anyone purchased or do you know anything about a UK import box set by the Little River Band called "The Capitol Years: 1979-1986"? It contains the albums "First Under The Wire (1979)", "Backstage Pass (1980)", "Time Exposure (1981)", "The Net (1983)", "Playing to Win (1985)", and "No Reins (1986)", and if the mastering is good it would be worth having just for the first three alone. It's running in the $35 range on eBay and Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up. It's mastered by Andy Pearce so it should sound fine.
    I've ordered it.

When I get the set I'll have a quick listen to a couple of songs and I could also send samples by mail to interested members. I also could post DR numbers for one of the albums but not for the whole set (too tiresome).
I doubt that I will have time to listen to the whole set before christmas.

DR numbers are not important to me...the sound is what matters. Samples would be welcome !!!

I got the set. It's mastered by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham.

I listened to "Lonesome Loser" and "Cool Change" on "First Under The Wire". It's louder and slightly brighter than the old Capitol CD. Not bad though. The Capitol has that slightly muddy "old CD" sound. The remaster sounds fresher butstill pleasant. Have to listen a bit more.

The old Capitol compact disc may have been a straight Wally dub from the lp. (eq/mastering wise)
My old US First Under The Wire lp has that signature.

"Backstage Pass" sounds nicer than my One Way Records CD.
I think "Time Exposure" is also slightly better than my Capitol CD. Surprisingly this doesn't sound brighter, it just has a little more clarity. Take into account I've only listened to one song and only once.

I didn't have any of the John Farnham albums in my collection before. I checked them out and at first glance "Playing To Win" and "No Reins" sounded pretty bad but when I compared the song "Playing To Win" to the version on the (generally very nice sounding) Rhino compilation "Reminiscing"I found that it sounds just as bad on the Rhino.
    Must be the 80s production.

So overall I'd say for the cheap price this box set is a winner.
