'Life' is also a live album polished in the studio, except for 'We Never Danced' which was cut in a studio.

One could make a case for side 3 of Living in the Past by Jethro Tull.

yeah but i would make an exception in that case, as they don't have much common with their earlier versions (especially Trouble Every Day")

Yup, but IIRC, "Breaking us in two" was a part of the recordings and later issued on a 12".

I think you may be misunderstanding the thread (or maybe I am). Your interpetation would include almost every live album ever released. And if this is so, why didn't you include 30 Seconds Over Winterland, oh JA oracle?

Hot Tuna's 1970 debut was live. Previous stuff by the Airplane maybe ? I forget.

  19. As an aside:

Steve Miller Band - Rock Love (1971) - The whole first side was new material recorded live; the second side, studio.

A great album if any of y'all get around to listening to it. :)

according to the op, no, since all or most of these songs were on earlier releases, if I understand correctly now.

Isn't a good chunk of Starless and Bible Black by King Crimson recorded live at the Concertgebouw? I nominate that one.

Let's add First Pull Up, Then Pull Down to this list, also.

Phil Ochs in Concert. He also released "Phil Ochs Greatest Hits" which is also all new material, a Greatest Hits album of all new songs I suspect being even a scarcer item than a live album of all new material. But that's another thread.

Plus Agharta, Pangaea and Dark Magus all had versions of 'Ife' which had been released on Big Fun. Dark Magus also had 'Calypso Frelimo' from Get Up With It.

However the tunes were not listed with those titles so maybe it doesn't count.
