Bowie Space Oddity (Cracked Actor album) It's wonderful isn't it. I was quite blasé putting the CD on, but when Oddity came on I was blown away, the performance and mix is awesome.
Several of the songs on Tom Petty's Live Anthology, I prefer over the original: American Girl, Runnin' Down A Dream, and Here Comes My Girl. On "American Girl" for example, I think Petty diminished the studio song by "putting on" too much with his voice. In the live version he sings it straighter and the band is tighter and better too. I would also add The Beatles "Thank You Girl" --- there is a BBC version that knocks the socks off of the studio version, though the sound quality is not that great.
Any live album. When a group is all together in one place at one time driving each other to perform as one it's fantastic, even if the acoustics are not.
Just bought Live at Leeds from The Who after hearing some splendid samples on YouTube. I'm in for a treat!
Correct. "Young Man Blues", "Substitute", Summertime Blues", Shakin' All Over", "My Generation", "Magic Bus". I went into sensory overload when I first saw the copy you now have in a shop for the first time. My then girlfriend couldn't quite understand why I was so excited, lol. Play it loud. Very loud.
I didn't care for "Spare Parts" from Springsteens "Tunnel of Love" but I really like the live version from the CD single of the same name.
Jason & The Scorchers' version of 'White Lies' performed on Conan is probably superior to the studio version which I also enjoy
In fact, I recommend that most casual listeners and newcomers to her legacy listen to the 2 "In Concert" albums from early on in her career before listening to the studio counterparts on the S/T debut, My Father's Eyes and Never Alone albums. Time Again Live has some versions superior to their studio counterparts as well. Speaking of live Amy, the Age To Age Concert needs to be issued on DVD commercially as it captures her at a major breakthrough in her career with excellent live versions of songs from the Age To Age album on back.
What a great great band!!I saw Jason when they wereach billed as "JASON & THE NASHVILLE SCORCHERS" Back in 1981-82 at the Ritz N.Y.C. opening for "X"!!!The scorcher's gave X quite a run for it's money!!!Jason's cowboy hat got flung out into the crowd early set too....great band!!!
