So while I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do in regards to buying a new turntable, I decided in the meantime to replace the cartridge on my current table (the stock cartridge it came with; I got about 2.5 years/250 hours out of it). I purchased a Stanton 505.V3 cartridge today for $35 at You Do It Electronics in Needham, MA. Now, before you say "Ugh, it's a DJ cartridge..." yes, it is. But the sound is friggin' phenomenal for a $35 cartridge. It tracks REALLY well too, even on the inner groove area. If you don't want to spend hundreds for a cartridge and don't demand audiophile-caliber sound, the 505.V3 is one to take seriously. This thing has really impressed me. It tracks at about 2 grams.
