I am looking for someone reliable and knowledgeable to repair my audio gear when necessary. I live in Pittsburgh, and the two people I know of here who do it are usually unavailable. Any suggestions?

By the time you pack things up, wait in line, get them shipped, etc., you'll have covered the two hour drive. Better to make the drive, check out the shop, and talk with the owners and techs before blindly trusting them with your equipment. If you have a good experience then shipping makes sense for future repairs.

There is only one guy that I know of where I live. He is the owner of a shop and he has an assistant so it is a 2 man operation.

Fortunately, he is only a few blocks away.

Unfortunately, he is so popular that once you drop off your gear, it will typically be 4 weeks before he can even look at it and give you an estimate ...
