Recently came across the lyrics to the Kingsman's version of Louie Louie. For those of you who have never been able to figure them out, don't feel badly, the FBI never figured them out either ;) .

    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah
    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah

A fine little girl, she waits for me
Me catch the ship for cross the sea
Me sail the ship all alone
Me never think me make it home

    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah
    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah

Three nights and days me sail the sea
    Me think of girl constantly
On the ship I dream she there
I smell the roses in her hair

    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah
    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah

(Okay fellas let's give it to them)
    (guitar solo)

    Me see Jamaica moon above
It won't be long me see my love
I take her in my arms and then
Me tell her I'll never leave again

    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah
    Louie Louie, oh baby,
Me Gotta Go.....Ay yah yah yah yah

Apparently, there is an obscenity after the guitar solo - Joe Ely starts singing too early and the drummer swears at him. I can't hear it though (obviously need the Hoffman-mastered version :D )

    John,

Thanks! The "illusion" of what they sang in 1963 sure was fun, however. We all thought that the Kingsmen were daring, pushing the limits of sensibility or as a then 12 year old I thought, cool!

On Toga Rock, you can hear 1/2 of the lyrics CLEARLY. On a Wand 45RPM with bad center-groove, it's as dirty as a two-bit whore, and I'm stickin' to that story!

It's mainly written as a Reggae-type song, and the original lyricist lost the rights to that song a long, long time ago. Mr. Berry has his fame though.

You don't WANT to know what I've been hearing!

"I drop my load...ahh, in her hair"!

(Sorry, really, but that's what I hear!)

You weren't the only one who heard it that way. Jerry Mathers (the Beaver) is alledged to have thought those were the words.

I wonder if she knew the right lyrics to Louie, Louie? Somehow, I bet she did?

    John,

I remember that old joke! However, I believe Mrs. Cleaver actually said that on the show.

Thanks for posting that link, by the way!

Okay, but *Joe* Ely? Man, that dude got around! Wonder
what that bus ticket from Lubbock cost back in 1963...
Seriously, it was *Jack* Ely who sang the vocal track
in the Kingsmen's version of Louie. It was Lynn Easton
(the drummer) who let the F word fly, off-mike but still
audible...and the rest, as they say, is history, however
you wanted to interpret it, then or now.

For more about this than you ever wanted to know, find
a copy of Dave Marsh's book titled, you guessed it,
Louie Louie. It's a great read!

"I never take her out/I lay her at home" is another "thought I heard" line...:D
