I found several lyric sites that have these lyrics, or similar, posted. I had never seen lyrics for this song before. I never knew his 'mumbling' was based upon any real words. Am I the only one surprised by these? I'm not really sure what to think.

Here's the song if you want to play it and read along:

    Take it Tony.
Well! Your love in my mind. Oh woman, I’m breakin’. Well, my minds’ gotta take, no one doesn’t break ya.
Ooh, come on keep it on playin’. Come on keep it on play. Come keep it on player. Come lose it or player.
Well! My mind is in love. My Mumbo will break ya. Well, our love hasn’t made, the Mumbo will break ya.
Ooh, come on feel it on playin’. Come on keep it on play. I don’t see any number. I don’t see an old lady.
    Ah. Yeah. Yeah.

I don’t beat a drumplayer. But I made alright. I am keepin’ a layer. Come, I made it alright. Eheh. Eheh.
    Eheh. Eheh. Eheh. Eheh.

Oooh, come on see, I’m a player. Come on, feel it I play. We’re not feeling a play out. No one think of a way. Ooh.
Well! Lady on my mind, I think I should make love. Well, my mind hasn’t made all up, can’t go to maintenance.

Ooh, you don’t seem to me, you don’t seem to me, get any maintenance.
Well, on my mind, my Mumbo will make you. Well, down in my mind, my Mumbo will break you.
Ooh, come on, keep it on playin’. You just keep it on playin’. You just keep it on, playin’. Ooh. You just beat them all. Aaah.

Aaah, your love is a waste. Come honey let’s make love. Well, my has been made up, ....
    Aaah. Aaah. Ah. Ooh.
Well! I found my love, I make it. Well...

Weird. I always heard them as follows:

This is a thing I've never known before
    It's called easy livin'
This is a place I've never seen before
    And I've been forgiven
Easy livin' and I've been forgiven
Since you've taken your place in my heart
Somewhere along the lonely road I had tried to find ya
Day after day on the windy road I had walked behind ya
Easy livin and I've been forgiven
Since you've taken your place in my heart
    Waiting, watching
    Wishing my whole life away
    Dreaming, thinking
    Ready for my happy day
    And some easy livin'!

I don't think there are actual lyrics to "Mumbo". After all the title says it all: it's all mock up vocals, with perhaps a real word or two here and there.
And I believe it's the same for "Bip bop".

But I agree it's easy to hear real sentences sometimes. But it's just false hearing, I think.

I, too, thought the lyrics were jibberish. Learn something every day.

I've always loved Wings Wild Life. I'd take that as my under rated Macca album any day over Back To The Egg.

    Love that Mumbo,
and the song and record too!

I could swear, I've read more than once, McCartney go on record that there are no lyrics to that song, it is just gibberish?! Hunh? Cool.

    C'mon everybody, let's sing along!!!

I don't buy those lyrics for a second. The only lyrics that I could discern when listening to Mumbo are "This will be an all-nighter". Since that phrase is absent from the above lyrics, I don't believe them.

Lyrics or not-Mumbo is a great rocker with a rock-solid beat. Back in 1972 I witnessed this live with Wings. Still remember how great Denny Seiwell banged the drums. That gig started with Bip Bop followed by Smile Away and then Mumbo. I doubt Paul will start a gig with those songs but it would be great. I love Mumbo. Must confess I rather like Bip Bop to:)

No need to worry.... Yr not alone. I pretty much love that whole album. Wish I could say I saw it live, WOW! It has a great, strange, cover of Love is Strange.

I've always heard the first line as..

WHENNNNNNNNNNNNNN some loud braggart tries to put me down and say his school is great...

The rest is too indistinct to make out properly.

    OK, Digital-G,
I have to call you out.
As much as we want to poses these elusive pearls of wisdom.
Where'd ya get the lyrics from?
Did ya pull them out of the "ether"?
I need ya to rat-out your source.:)

The Wild Life music album contains the sheet music for all the songs on the album plus, for each song, a separate page with the lyrics.

Each song except for Mumbo, that is. And there are no words on the sheet music for Mumbo either.

Those are the lyrics more or less, but Paul just sings them like that on purpose.

You need to correct the spelling here and there, but otherwise you are spot on.
