I am going to work on making a comparison needledrop between 16-bit and 24-bit recording. According to an article I read you can record at lower levels in 24-bit and retain more detail as compared to 16-bit. For years I have been recording in 16/44 recordings on the PC and of course most likely never noticed any difference. But since I acquired the 2496 a few months back, I plan to start doing my recordings now in 24/88.2 bit so I want to be able to do a side-by-side comparison of the two. Does anyone know where I can get an A/B comparison software to compare the two recordings? If I was to do a needledrop at 16-bit at about -6dB and the same thing with 24-bit at the same dB level, I am sure there will be some differences here. And since for now I have my PC connected to my stereo system, I have it where I can listen out for the difference.
