Always loved her voice. Got to hear, Reaching For The Sky, as Linn, the Hi-Fi company, re-cut the album on their own label.
Not to derail the thread too much but Golden Earring fans might enjoy perusing this. Golden Earring Record Research by Casper Roos
Bought 10 Mistakes, on the back of their performance on, The Old Grey Whistle Test. Not sure if that's a good, or bad thing, in the context of this thread, but very catchy songs, with brilliant humour.
They're all danish. Not dutch. Still great though... Dutch votes from here; Supersister, Nits, Earth & Fire... Legendary Pink Dots, although only partly dutch - they're great too...
Absolute best dutch band at the moment. Not sang in Dutch to not keep in the spirit of the thread.Sorry about that. DeWolff
Now that you used the word "metal"... phenomenal: Pestilence - Presence of the dead (you know it's a special thread where you can share Pestilence and Kinderen Voor Kinderen)
Pauw This young psychedelic band from The Netherlands is quite good. Only known a little in the UK I believe but they deserve more exposure
I was a huge fan of Focus. But I heard a jazz/pop singer Greetje Kauffeld some years ago and appreciated her vocals.
Not a tune about 'stroopwafels', but there is a band called The Amazing Stroopwafels, so I guess it counts. As the description of the video says, Oude Maasweg is a bilingual arrangement of Leon Russell's Manhattan Island Serenade. And it was (and still is) quite popular.
More indie From AMG review: The first album by the Dutch pop quartet Johan didn't make a lot of noise outside the Netherlands, which is a shame because its mix of indie-guitar nervousness, power pop hooks, and retro-pop sophistication is absolutely terrific.
