I'm not a huge fan but I think shes a great artist 'Like a Prayer' is a brilliant album. I have it along with the 'The Immaculate Collection' which is all I need.

    My favourite Madonna song.

I don't like everything she's done, but I like most of her stuff. I guess that qualifies as a "yay".

Loved her 1st and 2nd albums. Disliked her during her True Blue/Poppa Don't Preach phase. Fell back in love with her when she released Fever. She is the David Bowie of dance music and is one of the few performers who has played with her image and skirted such controversy while still projecting a consistent message. I don't care much for her last couple albums, but I think that has more to do with the current style of pop than anything else. I love Confessions on a Dance Floor and think Hard Candy is one of the best albums she's done. Loved my baby phat Madonna (especially when she did the strip tease in the wedding dress at the AMA) love my stringy chicken Madonna just as much.

I'm not a big fan of pop music in general. I do respect her however. She was the first Pop girl before Britney Spears and Swift, and Duff.....whoever.

I do own "Something to Remember" on CD. Some good mellow songs on that bad boy.

    Yep. One of the greats.
Though I always thought of her as a video artist.

Any news on her new album?

It’s been 4 years since Rebel Heart. That’s her longest ‘break’ to date.

I thought Madonna was decent enough until Like A Prayer (1989).

After that she became not much more than "house music"

Still some good singles after that as well as the Ray of Light album, but I prefer the more pop orientated Madonna stuff from the 80s.

I like/love most of her stuff until sometime around 2003 so it's mostly a "YAY" on my part.

Thank you very much for this tread. I know many of my friends are fans that really love Madonna and have followed her entire career (and own all of her catalog).

I have own some Madonna CD's in my collection, but only up to The Immaculate Collection. I think I will complete my collection.

    I voted Yay!

BTW, I think that music history would have been much more interesting is she had stayed married to Sean Penn. No one, ever, loses those type of feelings. Regardless of the denial.

Yes, I thought they’d taken it down to ‘clean up’, but it looks like they just ditched it altogether.:D

I think this is the first yay or nay thread I’ve done where the latter outweighs the former in the number of votes..

    Tough crowd.

Love her. Saw her live way back in 1987 on the "Who's That Girl" tour. The Immaculate Collection is one of the great compilations of all time. In my opinion her artistic peak is 1992's Erotica which to my ears is as close to a perfect record as she has put out. She seems to be a little off the deep end in the last few years which is a tad concerning, I still dutifully listen to every new record she releases but my expectations have waned since 2005's Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Yes, it was me who started that thread so I enquired with a moderator if it would be re-opened. It seems there were a number of homophobic comments that led to a few interventions before it was decided that enough was enough.
