A Kiss-like sounding album from the solo albums:

    1 Radioactive
2 Wouldn't You Like to Know Me?
    3 See You Tonite
4 Speeding Back to My Baby
    5 Love In Chains
    6 Rip It Out
    7 Move On
    8 I Can't Stop the Rain
    9 Man of 1000 Faces
    10 Goodbye

While this doesn't have the best of the solo albums it certainly collects the most Kiss sounding tracks. I am gonna make this compilation up now am excited by how strong that is as an album. I am a big fan of the solo album except Peter's which is a bit dribbly.

i left it out because it is not a Kiss sounding track. same with the soft and epic tunes off the Paul Stanley tracks.

    KISS' White Album

Now, if you're talking about a "live" version of "New York Groove" from the Dynasty tour, then I'm all in!

However, since I finally got to hear the Gene and Peter solo albums (and believe it or not, song for song, I actually like Peter's album better; however, the three or four strong songs on Gene's album trump all of Peter's album, so take that for whatever it's worth), I am gonna take the bold step (ha!) of making a KISS Solo double-album:

    SIDE ONE
    Radioactive
    Ain't Quite Right
    Snow Blind
    Don't You Let Me Down
Take Me Away (Together As One)

    SIDE TWO
    See You Tonite
    You Matter To Me
    Ozone
    Mr. Make Believe
    Goodbye

    SIDE THREE
    Rip It Out
    Hooked On Rock 'N' Roll
    Man Of 1,000 Faces
Hold Me, Touch Me (Think Of Me When We're Apart)
    I Can't Stop The Rain

    SIDE FOUR
    Wiped-Out
That's The Kind Of Sugar Papa Likes
    Tonight You Belong To Me
    Fractured Mirror
When You Wish Upon A Star

The parameters I set were as follows:
    • No more than five songs from each solo album, so as to follow the normal 10-songs-per album that was the norm for a KISS record
    • No member could be represented by more than two songs on one side
    • Conversely, every member would be represented on every side
    • It had to follow the spirit of the White Album in that side one would be as close to a KISS album as possible; side two would be poppier; side three would be reflective; side four would be as individual as possible.
    • The whole project must fit on one CD.

I like to think I succeeded (the total running time is 78 minutes). Anyway, nice way to spend a day….

I am not sure about the sequencing -- I haven't made a CD-R to try it out for flow.

I gave Peter his #9 Kiss position (Beth, Hard Luck Woman).

Ace had three tracks on the following "Dynasty" album and he gets three here. The Ace bounus track, "In Your Face," from the Japanese version of "Psycho-Circus" (all the members didn't play on every track of that one, so it is like "Dynasy" and "Unmasked") would have been a perfect fit on "Ace Frehley". What do you think?

    My picks.

    "Side 1"

    1) Tonight You Belong to Me
    2) Ain't Quite Right
    3) Snow Blind
    4) Always Near You/Nowhere To Hide
    5) New York Groove

    "Side 2"

    1) Burning Up With Fever
    2) Ozone
    3) Love In Chains
    4) I Can't Stop The Rain
    5) Goodbye

I reserve the right to change my mind about certain tracks :D. I suppose I could reverse the three opening tracks on "side 2".

Peter Criss' album is my favorite of the bunch. It doesn't sound like Kiss and fans don't didn't like that (and probably still don't). People who like this kind of music wouldn't think of buying an album with a guy in cat make-up on the cover. Doomed from the start.

Does anyone know if Ace ever did Rip It Out live with Kiss? Another question is why don't they pull Black Diamond out and lay Beth to rest! Watched Eric Carr do it last night in 1981 admirably so why not give Singer a shot at it? That setlist need to be changed!

Ace never played Rip It Out with KISS, only solo.

Eric Singer has been doing Black Diamond on this tour - and I believe he has been since he came back to the band.

Beth was retired after Peter left - but Eric Singer now sings that as well, in the Unplugged arrangement as opposed to Peter singing to the instrumental track.

Thanks for that! Did not know BD was being played and Beth should disposed of for another album track like say Rock Bottom! By the way either/or is one of my favorite albumsof all time!

Choose your favourite songs off the solo albums and make them as a 1978 KISS album. Mine goes:

    KISS - Snowblind
    Side A
    1. Move On (Paul)
    2. Burnin' Up With Fever (Gene)
    3. Snowblind (Ace)
    4. Tunnel of Love (Gene)
    5. Tonight You Belong To Me (Paul)
    Side B
    1. Rip It Out (Ace)
    2. Don't You Let Me Down (Peter)
    3. Ozone (Ace)
    4. Living In Sin (Gene)
    5. It's Alright (Paul)
Three songs for Paul, Gene and Ace, and the obligatory Peter tune, and we've got a great 1978 album-that-never-was. What are your versions?

If you were to create a regular studio album out of the four solo KISS records what would it be titled and what would the track list look like?
I came up with this: (I'd make cover art, but I'm not that tech savvy)

    KISS: Larger Than Life

    Side One:
    Rip it Out
    Tonight You Belong to Me
    Man of 1000 Faces
    It's Alright
    Move On
    Fractured Mirror

    Side Two:
    Radioactive
    Burning Up With Fever
    Speedin' Back to My Baby
    Love in Chains
    I'm Gonna Love You
    See You In Your Dreams

Occasionally I wonder if Kiss' career trajectory would've been different if they'd put out a regular album in 1978, but honestly, I doubt it. There's some decent Kiss-like tracks on Paul's record, and I enjoy "See You Tonight" and "Radioactive" from Gene's, but really the only A-level original Kiss-ish track from the solo LP's would've been "Rip It Out."

I think maybe it would've held over some of the earlier audience that abandoned them by the Dynasty tour, but I think no matter what it would've been a disappointment after everything they'd put out in the previous 5 years. I think the well had run a bit dry after Love Gun, at least within the narrow confines of what Kiss could and couldn't do musically at that juncture.

Radioactive, nothing off PC's album because it's unadulterated ****e, then pick anything you like from PS and AF's albums (apart from 'Hold Me, Touch Me, obviously, as that's just more unadulterated ****e)...job done!

It should have been a double album entitled "Ace Peter Paul Gene." Each guy gets a side.

Actually you have a great idea on Always Near You. Perhaps the hidden great album is with editing!

Can you imagine Snow Blind's solo with Radioactive's song structure?

The solo albums killed Kiss. Dynasty was just the epilogue....but I still like all of them.

    Xxxx

No way. Peter Criss gets one song and that is I Can't Stop the Rain.

Now stop cussing so much so I can tell what you are saying!

Most of us did one of these on the KISS song-by-song thread.

A "regular studio album" probably means it has to be a single album. If so, I'd do something like this:

    Side A
    Tonight You Belong to Me
    Burning Up with Fever
That's the Kind of Sugar Papa Likes
    What's On Your Mind?
Take Me Away (Together as One)
    Always Near You/Nowhere to Hide

    Side B
    I'm Gonna Love You
    Snow Blind
    Man of 1,000 Faces
    Easy Thing
    Wiped-Out
    Goodbye

I'd prefer if it could be a double album though--it should have been KISS' "White Album" basically. In that case, I'd do something like this:

    Side A
    Tonight You Belong to Me
    Burning Up with Fever
    Snow Blind
    You Matter to Me
Wouldn't You Like to Know Me

    Side B
That's the Kind of Sugar Papa Likes
    What's On Your Mind?
    I'm Gonna Love You
    Ain't Quite Right
    Always Near You/Nowhere to Hide

    Side C
Take Me Away (Together as One)
    I'm in Need of Love
    See You Tonite
    Kiss the Girl Goodbye
    Ozone

    Side D
    Mr. Make Believe
    Easy Thing
    Wiped-Out
    Man of 1,000 Faces
    Goodbye

I'd probably make a couple sequencing changes if I were to spend more time on it--the biggest thing I dislike is a Peter song, then an Ace song, and then another Peter song to start side B, but I like a lot of my other sequencing, so I'm not sure where to stick the other Peter song yet.

I like every solo album (Gene's is actually my favorite), and unlike some others, I'd want each guy to have an equal number of tracks.

It has to have New York Groove, even if it is a cover song. it was the only hit out of the 4 albums and easily the catchiest single out of the whole bunch.

I've maintained that they should combine all four into a 2CD set in a slimline case. Convenient for the fan. Easier to distribute. Takes up less retail/warehouse space. Everybody wins.
