ABC has officially picked up the Joss Whedon helmed Avengers spin-off series for this fall.

The first promo will air Sunday during the season finale of Once Upon A Time.

Look for various Marvel characters to make cameo appearances.

Which is good because I like the Coulson character.

He could be resurrected. An alternate universe. It never happened, he wasn't really killed. Ignore the fact that Loki stuck his sceptre through his chest. He was transported to a secret SHIELD location where he was injected with super serum....
Reality is what you want it to be :)
    It's the movies :)

I hope it's PRE-the Avengers movie. S.H.I.E.L.D. is best imo in its earliest days. battling the likes of Hydra and A.I.M.

Joss will get bonus points from me if he shows how Fury got there form Howlin' Commandos days and features Dum Dum et al.

Not much info on the characters aside from the core group, listed below:

    Phil Coulson
    Melinda May
    Grant Ward
    Skye
    Leo Fitz
    Jemma Simmons

Gonna have to remind me which scene showed Coulson in a casket.

  14. I'd be more excited about this series if it were on any channel but ABC. I don't think we'll see many recognizable heroes on it except in very brief cameos.

I predict they will somehow live in a magical world where none of the big name movie characters are ever mentioned or show up.

That's also another way we know it's a prequel, it's one of the only ways they can get away with not taking part in or messing with the movie story line, and also never having any of the big names on the series.

I look forward to this, and withhold my prognostications until after viewing it.

Awesome to see Agent Coulson back in action again. I'm sure the explanation will be a fun one.

He'll get super-bonus points if he explains how Nick Fury went from a white man to a black man.

Finally saw a TV ad. Coulson is front and center probably. He's no Sitwell! :)

I don't think Joss will be getting any bonus points. Looks okay, but a S.H.I.E.L.D. I've never known and probably for a reason.

Marvel had no shortage of horrible TV and film products before Disney's involvment. I doubt Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. will be worse than most of the Marvel animated projects they were cranking out during the five decades before Disney purchased them.

Easy solution, Coulson was a robot that stayed behind to protect the machine. The real Coulson was directing action from another secure SHIELD location. They could also refer to the superheroes adventures through surveillance monitors. They could just be a cleanup squad or make it a long story arc that leads to the next movie a la tracking the bad guys movements until their plot is revealed in the next flick.

Because of Whedon's involvement I expect this to be quirky, funny and intelligent just like all his other projects.
