I'm looking forward to this one, will they continue the more commercial approach or revert back?

Sounds great, I'm in (as always with Mastodon).

And I see they're back on the "fire motif"

Pumped for this already got ticks for one show in may. That little snippet sounds like blood mountain meets crack the Skye. These guys and opeth are the only exciting metal bands making great front to back albums today with every release. IMO

Got tickets to a festival gig. It will be weird to see them in daylight.

I'm in. Just about to fire up Sultan's Curse on Apple Music. Crack The Skye and The Hunter were both outstanding. Once More.. was good without being as great as the previous albums, but any Mastodon is worthy of full consideration.

Does anyone else think the production on "Once More..." was sub par? I even have it on vinyl and I think it sounds a bit muddy compared to the previous two.

It took me a while to appreciate these guys. The first two albums didn't grab me. Blood Mountain clicked for me right away though. Looking forward to this.

    Nice!

I'm on a bit of a vinyl Mastodon buying spree right now - I'm just buying all different colour vinyl for all their albums I can find. So many it's busting my wallet!

Wow... Isn't this a little TOO gimmicky? You get pencil crayons with it to colour your own sleeves...

    DESCRIPTION
    - 2xLP 180 Gram Black Vinyl in a Gatefold Jacket
    - Bonus Color-In Your Own Vinyl Jacket
    - Exclusive Box of Mastodon Colored Pencils

Wish I could buy the 2LP without the ******* crayons for a reasonable price.

That's $63 here in Canada - Way too overpriced.... Then add any shipping etc and easily a $75 album....

Anyone that downloaded the single know the DR? (and how does the waveform look?) I'm expecting another brickfest but you never know.

I do like how the snare sound has a very similar crack to the Crack The Skye one. I wonder if they recorded all analog again and the LP will have a good mastering...

Gotta hand it Mastodon, if nothing else they're pretty consistent. Sounds very much in the vein of Crack the Skye.

I'm sure there will be a non-pencilled edition available for pre-order soon (and when they do I'm on it like white on rice).
