You know, I actually think you may be on to something. The logical time to rollout a single for this would've been when it was (so to speak) "new". Like two months ago. It's almost like Paul and/or his PR team is dreaming this is a Christmas #1 or something. If so, they're clearly living here:

As a "single" that tune would be lucky to crack the UK top 50, I'd think.

Although I can't figure out why "Hope" isn't some sort of Black Friday limited release in the States. It seems so obvious...

You can call me crazy, but I'd take these songs: "Fine Line", "At the Mercy", "Riding to Vanity Fair", "How Kind of You", '"Friends to Go", "Follow Me",
"Promise to You Girl", "This Never Happened Before", "Anyway"
    and make them all GREAT.

    I mean, C'mon People!!!!

I love the dark and angry qualities of Vanity Fair; also these ones: At the Mercy, How Kind of You, This Never Happened Before and Anyway all have a really remarkable deep somberness that you don't find anywhere else in Macca's work.

I'm not THAT down on it at all. I just like playing around with the album titles.:D

But I actually do like Driving Rain better than Chaos... as released by Paul. YOUR version of Chaos is the definitive one IMO.

I haven't listened to it in awhile. I might have to play it tonight.

If these promo CDs keep selling for more than $300 each, then there is definitely NO hope for the future...

But that idea may not be too far fetched. If you think about it, it has a good vibe going into a new year. I'm not saying it has a chance to be a holiday season smash hit, but the sentiment fits for New Year's.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Paul is never going to have another #1 again..except in the unfortunate circumstance where he passes away and has new product available, ala John with Double Fantasy and "(Just Like) Starting Over."

I think NEW was his best and possibly last shot*. It came very close, but no cigar, unfortunately.
*(Unless he uses Kanye West in the same way he used Michael Jackson in the '80s)....

Don't worry Frank, I'm sure you'll soon find a mysterious polar bear, some scary smoke and The Others. And then you won't feel so LOST.

Not that it had a hope in hell of cracking the Top 40 anyway but any speck of a chance it had of being #1 has been blown away by the release of Band Aid 30.

The next time Paul is piloting his boat, I'll send him around.

Yes, he can pilot his Anthology tugboat to the island and regale me with stories about his Beatles days.. stories we have never heard.
For instance..are you aware that "Yesterday" was originally worked on under the name "Scrambled Eggs "? You know, new, fresh stories like this one.

Come to think of it, I'll just stay on the island.:p

Point taken Glenn. To sweeten the pot I'll make sure George Martin is on the boat with him..

    Surely you will reconsider.

What does a "single" mean these days? Will it be on vinyl?

Yes ! George Martin's stories are ALWAYS new and fresh ! I'm sure you've seen the video where George is kidnapped but still keeps talking about the Beatles...:D

Yesterday I finally watched the Something New documentary and I must say, I really enjoyed that a lot. I loved all the studio shots and it was great that the band interviews were done at the Mill. It's always nice seeing what that place looks like.

Behind Rusty you could see the cover of Biker Like An Icon hanging on the wall, behind Paul you had the Bill Black bass and a collage of different versions of Paul's White Album photo and behind Abe you had the Memory Almost Full art hanging on the wall. Wonder what photo the photo frame behind Paul was holding, it was clearly turned around for the filming.

In hindsight I was amazed at how fairly certain the band seemed at the time of the interviews about playing a lot or all of the album live. There's also footage of the band rehearsing a lot of songs we haven't seen live, like Looking At Her for example. Maybe some plans got changed late in the game.
