Also I like what some of you said about the producer Chris Thomas.
I'd track him down, he seems to think along the lines that I would.

I was watching that Ryan Tedder interview from late January in which he said that he had spent a week at Paul's studio in the UK and would get together again in LA and it made me wonder about his work in the upcoming album: playing? Singing? Producing? Co-writing?

He seemed quite willing to talk about it on camera. Hopefully someone will ask him a few more questions.

The guitar solos in House Of Wax, may be some of the best of McCartney's career!

If you mean best guitar solos I agree, I also agree that it's one of the best songs on the album.

Of the 25,000 articles I can vaguely remember reading about Paul McCartney since issue 1 of Q, at least 75% of them have been about how McCartney hasn't has his dues as a 'rocker'.
For example, almost every article about McCartney in any of the magazines Mojo, Classic Rock, Uncut, Q, NME, in the past three decades (at least) have been about 'McCartney isn't just about 'Mull of Rupert'. Did you know it was he who did 'Long Tall Sally' despite that 'Backbeat' portrayal of the Lennon character doing it?!!
Now, this begs the question 'What happens when you DO get your dues as a rocker?
Does The New York Times publish a retraction of the claim 'Paul McCartney- Balladeer' on Page Six?

I think Paul has it in his head that he's got to prove he's a "rocker" still. I don't know, I think he's been a "rocker" since "I Saw Her Standing There" "I'm Down" "Helter Skelter" "Oh Darling!" etc. To me, he has nothing left to prove. Any future new music release will be a nice surprise, but I won't be defining his career by it, even if it's a CD full of soft, acoustic guitar melodies sung by an old-voiced 75-year old. It's ok with me.

This thread is now two-years-old. Wasn't Sgt. Pepper made in five months? Paul's new album had better be four times as good as Pepper. Okay, I'll be nice and lower my expectations; it should be at least twice as good.

Is this album just going to be called “started with producer Greg Kurstin “? That’s how I reference it at this point

    From 2008:

Rock and Roll gun slinger, TED NUGENT, is offering to provide personal security for Rock and Roll animal rights activist, Sir Paul McCartney.
McCartney has been threatened by extremists if he plays a concert in Israel to celebrate Israel's 60th birthday. "Regardless that Paul and I have our obvious social, cultural, and culinary differences outside of music, I will not bend or waiver to voodoo religious whackjobs and neither should Paul," exclaimed NUGENT.
NUGENT, an NRA Board of Director member, has trained extensively with military specialists and various law enforcement agencies for over 30 years. "It would be my pleasure to keep this legendary musical hero safe from terrorists and madmen, and then buy him a nice dinner of tofu," said NUGENT. "I'm Dirty Harry with a ponytail, and I'm at Paul's service," quipped NUGENT.

In Paul McCartney's case, absolutely nothing will happen!

I mean he's recorded rockers, he's performed rockers all over the world, did it change the misconception, no!
There are those who still think he doesn't rock, or go so far as to say his rock isn't rock?!

How could anyone see or listen to something like Soily from Wings Over America, or Hi Hi Hi, Rockshow, Girlschool, Junior's Farm, Beware My Love, etc and say the man doesn't rock, but they did and still do! They even categorize it and call it Pseudo-rock, which means not genuine a sham?

I remember McCartney saying that someone was surprised after seeing him live and saying they didn't know he rocked like that. At the time McCartney asked him, where had he been for the last twenty years?

yes, he gets hate because his music isnt genre specific rock.

For real, most Beatles haters ultimately, though not said directly, hate the Beatles music because they don't sound exactly like any other band.

    That's my guess.

I have to think the delay in the release of Paul's next album has something to do with this:

Record Sales Plunge as Top Artists– Justin Timberlake, U2, even Taylor Swift– Sell Fractions of Previous Numbers

    What precisely? I don't know.

Just be prepared for reports of low sales when the album finally arrives, regardless of the music's quality.

This might also explain why the Archive series is crawling along, and why we suddenly got a Pepper box, and Christmas flexis seemingly out of the blue.

I would not argue that McCartney on occasion can come up with very good rock or rock n roll numbers. But imo that s not the main reason for his enduring fame. Putting the Beatles aside the fame and sucess has to do with Pauls otherwordly gift in coming up with great and memorable melodies be it pop, rock or ballads. So one can t simple reduce him to being a rocker or whatever. Personally I don t mind if Paul once in a while comes up with a good rock-number. But to claim that he at age 75 should "rock"-whatever that means-is a very narrow way of lookin at the art of McCartney. Stuff like Eleanor Rigby or Little Willow hardly rock but certanely are very memorable songs.
Given his age I would go for a mellow album with stamina that reflects the mans age and experience.
If the music "rocks" or not is not a criteria for me when it comes to enjoying McCartneys music. Neither is it if he uses his touring band or not. Memorable songs well executed with good arrangements is my main criteria for enjoying Pauls music as opposite to meaningless categorizing into dufferent genres.
    But that s me.
