This will start a few arguments . Obviously Paul used his Hofner on the early recordings, but when Rubber Soul hit everything changed . The Rickenbacker 4001 came into play . Michelle was the first tune I believe he used it on . It also sounds like the 4001 on "Baby Your A Rich Man" with the treble/midrange boosted .
However knowing that Paul was using a Fender Jazz on much of Pepper blew me away . RTB is a good reference for this . However they mention what instruments were used at a particular time but not on a certain track for the most part .
Getting Better has a great bass track ,it is either the jazz or 4001 .

In closing . Gospel truth . I was talking to Paul right before he went on stage here a few years ago . We were talking one minute and then he was to go on stage . The band was already on stage and Paul literally said "see you later I gotta play now" He ran to stage left and grabbed his Hofner right at the entrance to the stage from a roadie . This guy handed Paul his bass about three feet from the curtain . Paul just grabbed it and put the strap on and walked on stage . I am sure he has the creme de la creme of people working for him and it was tuned and tweeked prior to him going on stage .
A pros pro as it were . ( by the by .The band does a rhythmic warmup before they play . You have to see this to appreciate it . They hype up before playing )

Whatever bass he was playing on "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" works best for me.

Love that deep, slinky sound on Come Together and the aforementioned Baby You're A Rich Man. Great bass sounds.

I love the trebly sound he got throughout The White Album (Not sure if it's the Ricky or a Fender), on tracks like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Glass Onion" and "Savoy Truffle".

I believe the bass on Goodnight Tonight was a Yamaha. Great trebly sound. He always had great sounding bass, from Hofner to Rick to whatever. There's too many tunes to mention

i'm pretty sure it's just a regular bass on 'smile away', i think that's the buzzy sounding synth that doubles the bass line that you're hearing

I like the bass line, but I still think the bass sound is flabby.

With A Little Help from My Friends. What a bass line/lines!
