I did, but got it home and it has a dead channel (that is why the bottom is off). Was going to return it, but after monkeying around with it for awhile I decided to keep it anyways. It is almost easier to fix it than haul this beast around! Fairly certain it is just the mono switch (amp is bridge able), but cut the wires to the switch a little too quickly, a little to late one evening, only to realize later that they are shielded, and therefore are going to take a little more work to repair. It is in the queue!

Now it's in my home & I'm experiencing it for myself , McIntosh is for people who love their music and wants to enjoy their music wether they are relaxing , socialising with friends , family , pets or doing stuff around the house such as cooking, cleaning, admin work etc. Its for people who like humming along , tapping their foot , dancing , playing air guitar , drums , conductor etc. It's for playing quiet & rocking out. For fans of the radio, record/cd collectors , streamers etc . All music genres catered for .A true alternative to the television.

McIntosh is not suitable for people that upgrade every six months, obsessed with measurements & graphs . Not suitable for people
who think it hasn't got street cred . Not suitable for people that get hung up on VTA , stylus rake angle , digital resolution numbers , tweaking or like to use cable with prices of small houses . Not suitable for people who get upset that their vinyl might not be 180g or digitally mastered . Unsuitable for purist audiophiles who insist on no tone controls . Not suitable for people who assume it's just for
professionals such as doctors or lawyers & like to be elitist snobs.

Yes it is pricey & sadly out of some people's reach but if you are shrewd & see something second hand Go for it. I did.

Hello Ron P . I hear that you are a McIntosh hater. Fair enough We live in a free world. I hope you have an enjoyable sound at home . I would like to tell you here a now , if that C32 Pre Amp didn't sound any good , I wouldn't have bought it but it did & it looks fabulous .

I have spent 35 years putting hifi together & in the UK McIntosh was a brand you heard about but rarely saw. There did not seem to
be an importer & naturally imported goods would cost a whole lot more. Because the UK press were obsessed with straight signal path/no tone controls Mac was off the scale along with Japanese gear. My experience of hearing McIntosh for the first time was at a hifi exhibition 8 years ago & after listening to various hifi manufacturers I heard music at the corridor that sounded like the real thing. When I popped my head around the door there it was .....McIntosh!!!. I said to myself " F**k . I thought this stuff was meant to be overrated & a gimmick....WRONG. From that day onwards I forgot about loyalty to British gear & embraced the world, it's lights & tone controls!!! Happy days!

I am not a Mc hater. I just think that people who prefer other brands/makes of Hi Fi are not losers who don't know what they're talking about. I would suggest that these freaks also have friends, families and pets, and ...LOVE MUSIC... just as much as the loyal fans of McIntosh.

BTW....going to Denver tomorrow with my trusty AKG's to plug them into the new McIntosh headphone amp. Don't tell anybody, I don't think anybody follows this thread anyway, (ha ha), but I think I have to have one of those. I hear it is very good.

What might a fella expect to pay for a nice used McIntosh integrated amp?

Is anyone bashing the brands you own?...........................Didn't think so. I had to bring that up, since you're the one that dug all of the McIntosh threads you could find on the board to bash them a couple weeks ago.

It just seems you have an "issue" with McIntosh for some very odd reason.

Nobody said anything to the contrary - and if they did, I would be the first to point out the absurdity of such a position.

I had thought we had a productive dialog a while back which I believe helped provide some insights about McIntosh.

Please say that it had not been lost.

And I probably will. New or vintage. That stuff is, if nothing else, a good investment. But it is without a doubt, well made and I respect that.

I would check out eBay for starters to get a feel. You can also check out a site that sells used McIntosh. Jut google McIntosh and it will come up. The fellow that runs the company is very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought my Mc receiver from eBay at a fair price. I had an integrated amp back in the 80s and wish I had kept it.

Besides Audio Classics there's also Tom Manley at www.mcintoshaudio.com where I bought my McIntosh preamp and amp. Tom can be trusted also.

Trolls will be trolls, but shame on any McIntosh enthusiast who gets offended by Mc Bashing.
I know what I have and like, and nothing a troll says will change my opinion.

Do you think anyone's mind is ever changed by what a troll says? Quite the opposite.

From what I gather, Ron P had owned some vintage McIntosh units - briefly - acquired from an Estate sale but sold them quickly.

A shame he had not spent some more time with them...
