Metallica - Black Album was released 25 years ago today...

    The thing I recall the most about this album was the number of people I encountered who believed this was Metallica's debut. I really wish I was exaggerating.

    The last Metallica album I bought. It had such a change in tone that it never really sat easily with me. Maybe three or four songs that would make a playlist. Which is probably the amount of songs in total from the albums that followed.

    Thanks for that bit :) I always liked how the album sounds on original CD but wonder if the final master was 44.1 why I still pick HDtracks 2008 variant 24-96 (that was based on DVD-audio release) as my favorite...

    Initially George Marino mastered the album from DAT. There is however an analog safety that theoreticly could havd been used for recent remastering projects.
