Given MOFI's quality these last few years, I'd be curious if any possible sonic upgrade appears. Still, there's just so much other music I've not heard, it'd be hard to justify getting this again.

Really? Most of the vinyl titles as well as the CDs (Pretenders 2 and Learning To Crawl) sound MUCH better than their ordinary cd and vinyl counterparts to me.

I'm ambivalent about this album, but its nice to see a flurry of MFSL SACD's actually coming into existence of late.

I have original CD and vinyl, and the MoFi 45 RPM vinyl in the mail. I'd have a really hard time justifying the SACD were I not a little crazy, but I just can't help myself. Too many times I've decided I want things like this too late and the limited run is finished and I get gouged on the used market, so I figure I'll just go into full American Beauty overload.

The DVD-A had remixed tracks and broken segues so count me in for this. I am hoping for the best on this great album.

It will be hard to beat the HD Tracks download. Even the original CD sounds very good.

I'm going for this, the Hd tracks is sonically great but just not the same as the original album

I don't think that this one was chosen because it needed a sonic upgrade. It's just a popular album that will probably sell well. I'll buy it, just because...

It is a hybrid SACD so yes SACD and CD layers; I think that is what you are asking anyway.

The way some of the recent MFSL have been turning out say for Dylan, Allman Bros, I have high hopes this is going to sound nice and like the good ol' grateful days.

The original US issued CD is representative of many WEA mastering efforts from the late 80s. I really like it but I'd expect a modern mastering, hi res or not, to beat it easily assuming the tapes aren't damaged.

Honestly, I think that "Pretenders 2" is one of the worst sounding MOFI's I own. My original release CD sounds a lot better!

Save for the just-released SACD I believe I have all the official (digital) releases. The original CD, the HDCD CD, the DVD-A and the 24/48 download from HD Tracks. To my ears all of 'em sound great.
