People are discussing this in a general purpose Mobile Fidelity thread but it seems like it would be nice to have a specific thread for opinions and comparisons. Don't know if anyone actually has a copy yet but as soon as you do, I know I would love to hear your thoughts! If there is already a thread and I missed it, I am sure it will be taken care of.

The SACD is good but I ordered the vinyl release too. Should be in my hands and on my turntable by the end of the week.

Can the Gorts fix the title of this thread so it can cover the vinyl release?

My copy is arriving tomorrow. I'll post my thoughts afterwards. I also have a 1st press UK and the 2010 pressing, which I believe is all analog.

Hmmm... I do have a decent Layla vinyl, but wouldn't mind one that sounds better.

Ok, you guys sold me. I've yet to hear a great sounding version of this album. I just put an order into Music Direct for the vinyl issue. I'm not holding my breathe on this, though. I have the MoFi CD and it's not that great. Maybe they figure something out since then. But, I would like to finally have a decent sounding copy of this album.

Every pressing I've ever picked up doesn't sound very good. Here's to hoping this album finally has decent SQ.

So far the one response on the general these is pretty negative.

When you say "doesnt sound very good", can you describe what it is you mean?

All the negative reviews have been from people trying to put the LP into a Cd player.

Again, it's a very murky sounding album. My German is the best I have heard thus far, and that includes a UK Polydor. But we're talking maybe a 6.5/10.

I have a copy on the way. I read the review on the other thread and it wasn't good. Hopefully I'll have better experience than he did.

I've found that certain MFSL's-particular vinyl versions-end up enhancing the aural shortcomings rather than reduce them.
