Maybe the Amazing Randi will pony up the difference.

It was doomed because it was aimed at audiophiles.
    I'll bet a million dollars he doesn't.

It was my understanding that a $10 pledge got you a $10 discount off the final purchase price of the record (estimated at $20-25).

Not that it matters now but I pledged on the first day.

I think it failed because it wouldn't really tell us much. I could go to the store now and buy two brand new copies of the same record and they'll sound a little different from each other.

I think it failed because audiophiles don't need to actually do well constructed experiments to find out what is what. We already know it all. Even when we don't. Especially when we don't!!

I would also like to add that I was very confident that the final results would have been a null which hopefully would have made some progress in alleviating this fear of hi res digital stages in the mastering chain of an LP. But ya know what? It probably would not have helped at all. A null would have probably lead to a lot of fighting and rationalizations in support of peoples' prejudice against anything digital. So maybe nothing was really lost here.

Funny? Wouldn't be so surprising at all.

Look how many threads there are on this board with LP's of unknown origin and people can't tell the difference until AFTER the source is unveiled.

Im not certain if this is related to this thread. But one of the greatest audiophile recordings Ive ever heard was done on digital.
Joe Jackson "Body and Soul" You hear the Neuman tube mics and the performers as if you were in the studio.
So I would tend to think that all analog is over rated.
Best served on vinyl of course.
PS This recording puts RVG to shame.
