Are there any vinyl copies that are known not to have Sibilance? Does the Japanese version have this sibilance? I have gone through quite a few copies all have bad Sibilance and are hard to listen to...

I have a NM 1st press and the sibilance on human nature makes me cringe. Tried 3 different carts.

Isn't that an overly long lp? I once recall some report that over half the run had pressing defects of some sort or another. Plus, you know they were running the stampers longer than they should have, given the unprecedented demand.

Yes, I actually returned the LP I bought in 1983 due to the bad sibilance. The replacement sounded the same. At the time, I chalked it up to my cheap turntable, but even when I upgraded it was still there.

I’ll have to listen again. My Canadian original has always sounded fine, but...

Never had issues with my copies. But also had meticulously maintained and setup tonearms, and good cartridges and styli.

I don't recall my original pressing sounding bad at all, but I don't have it on me to give it a spin. I know I played it into the ground way back when.

Is there any reason at all why the picture disc version of the album is the only "new" one I've seen available in brick and mortar shops? I see discogs has a US reissue from 2016 listed in its original gatefold style sleeve, but all I ever see are the picture discs out in the wild.

    Hi

I hate sibilance but I have a Japanese and USA Pitman pressing with no sibilance. I am using VM540ml. It could be a cartridge issue?

Absolutely. I don't want another cartridge. I'd be happy with it for the rest of my listening years. I just hope Audio Technica keep making them and stop changing the names and upping the price.

Hi, if you are sure that your copies have no sibilance would you mind giving my the matrix info for both copies so I can search for them?

Not at all. One side is about 20 minutes and the other about 22.5 min.

I did notice some very slight sibilance on that album which isn't present on any other but I think the 2nd side is more affected.

Well you shouldn't be getting sibilance with that cartridge. Is it just this record?
