I'm a big fan of live music DVDs especially ones featuring Miles. Its great to hear him and his band play live but I do get an extra chill down my spine actually watching him prowl the stage giving subtle directions to the musicians. Personally I hope this series always has a DVD part to it. I'll buy them all.
It would be interesting to note that whether or not Sony will keep this series in a chronological order?
On another thread about this when the first one came out I wondered whether they were going to go for 67-69-71-73 as these tend to be the overseas tours which weren't released officially, The even years were pretty much covered with releases at the time and since 68 - did not tour 70 - Live at the Fillmore East / Black Beauty / At Fillmore / Cellar Door 72 - In Concert 74 - Dark Magus
I will be buying them all, too. I just doubt that the DVDs will leave the case often, if at all. Its a more pleasurable experience to listen to the music than it is to watch it.
Just consider the DVD a free bonus. As it is it's likely you'll get three cds and a DVD for the price of 1.75 Audiofidelity reissues.
Well, it wouldn't be a Sony Miles Davis box if it wasn't delayed...got to keep some traditions going.
Vol.2 is scheduled for release on January 29 in the United States: http://www.amazon.com/Live-In-Europ...-3&keywords=miles+davis+bootleg+series+vol.+2 and on January 25 in Europe: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008YCMM2A/ref=ox_ya_os_product.
I've done some googling, this should be the tracklisting. It looks like the Stockholm recording is heavily edited, but the other 3 recordings appear to be complete. This should be an amazing release. Looking at Peter Losin's site the Stockholm appears to be all that was recorded of the first set, plus one song ("This") from the second set. This is an interesting one since the electric piano breaks down during the first song, so Chick Corea plays most of the night on acoustic piano.
Strange, as this disc appears to contain the full set. I guess it was sourced from the same radio broadcast? http://plosin.com/milesahead/Disco.aspx?id=Stock69

From the Amazon editorial review.... "LIVE IN EUROPE 1969 lives up to the Miles Davis Bootleg Series mission of presenting live performances that are previously unreleased, have previously only been bootlegged, or are very rare. This new set is the first collection of Miles's Third Great Quintet, the "Lost" Band of 1968-1970 with Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette at their peak (they were never recorded in the studio). The album captures the short-lived quintet in three separate concert settings, starting with two full-length (one hour-plus) sets at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France, in Stockholm as part of "The Newport Jazz Festival In Europe," and completed with a stunning 46-minute performance at the Berlin Philharmonie, filmed in color."
I will have to get this set, as I love this period of Miles. It looks like a great set. On a side note, the cover looks odd with Quintet hyphenated (though with no hyphen).
The difference in timing is likely due to the tracking of the bootleg - ie Masqualero is incomplete on the bootleg also.
